This restaurant in a beautiful historic building is well known for its steak. We decided to give the Porterhouse a try. It should have had all the gristle and fat cut off. Supposedly 40 ounces shared by two but I don't think it was that big unless you count the humongous bone. We ordered cocktails which were delicious and perfectly... More

The steak was very good, but the side dishes were unreal. Lobster mac and cheese and the sweet potato casserole was fantastic.

The food is quite pricey, but you should know that since this is a chain and they are all expensive. The quality was good and the service was friendly. The setting is warm and comfortable--well suited to solo dining.

My husband and I planned on going out with some friends. After much debate about where to go, Ruth was chosen. I haven't been a real fan lately because the last 2 times I'd been there were a disaster to say the least. This time was different and Matthew, our waiter, was the difference. Very attentive and caring, suggesting when... More

Situated in the old city hall. Great steaks. Fast and efficient service - sat at the bar. Expensive though. If visiting for dinner and especialy weekends, make a reservation.

Consistent with the quality of Ruth's Chris locations in Canada, this gem of a restaurant was hidden in Old Town Hall - making the architecture of the space as impressive as the bartender's wit, charm, and stellar personality. A bottle of malbec was a great accompaniment to a 20oz bone-in ribeye with a side of mashed potatoes (delicious) and asparagus... More

After all the fish and seafood we were eating on our holiday we were getting withdrawal symptoms for red meat! Our hotel recommended Ruth's not even a 5 minute walk from the hotel - perfect! We skipped starters and moved straight to the steaks I had a small fillet with a shrimp and my boyfriend a big steak. We had... More

Meat eaters paradise, but my wife had crab cakes, which, she said, were as good as any she'd ever had. A bit overpriced, and service slow, but a unique experience

They serves one of the best steaks in the world. Their Oysters and Crabs are fresh too. Nice atmosphere and surroundings as well.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
