Another gem in a town that seems to abound in excellent restaurants. Great staff help to make this one especially enjoyable. We were a large group and staff were very accommodating. Lots of great items on the menu, I had the Steak frites. Very good, lots of positive reviews on the salmon and chicken. Overall a great spot. Churned ice... More

Ate dinner here in October, 2016. The menu was full of great choices. Excellent service. Could easily walk here from my hotel, the Kimpton Nine Zero Hotel

We went to the Marliave this week for lunch, expecting to do the Dine Out menu. I booked the reservation following links from the Dine Out site. You can imagine our disappointment to discover that they were not doing lunch for Dine Out, we had to order off the regular menu, no compensation offered. We were there, so we did.... More

I came here with a friend for Restaurant Week on a whim and we really lucked out! I had the duck liver ravioli, wellington, and a chocolate cake and he had the beef carpaccio, scampi, and chocolate cake. The atmosphere was comfortable and our server was exceptionally attentive, only to be matched by the high quality of the food. Would... More

I want to celebrate my birthday in my favorite city - Boston. So here we are ! We arrived on Thursday and the weather turned FREEZING. After checked in to our hotel, we did not want to go anywhere but a very close restaurant. Hotel front desk Rep suggested Marliave - we have never been and took the suggestion for... More

I just love Marliave Restaurant. It's in my 'hood and has felt like an extension of my family table for the last 8 years. The food is better than what I serve at my table, but always feels warm and welcoming. I've also hosted business dinners and holiday meals here as well. It's one of the oldest restaurant spaces in... We had read the reviews, we we have fairly high expectations. We were not disappointed. The escargot were beyond delicious, as was the rabbit. The accompany polenta came with carmelized onions- one of the best treatments of the old tankard we have had. French onion soup rates a very good, as did the truffle fries (quite a large serving). The... More

Marliave has been around for well over 100 years and I have no clue how I am just now finding the place! The building is historically old, the story of Marliave, the menu is awesome, and the drinks menu is insanely great! Get the W.C. Fields drink!!! The meatball sliders were delicious and the Steak Frites was perfectly cooked!!! A... More

Mariave is hidden away in downtown Boston, but very close to well traveled areas ( Boston Common, Govt Center ).It's interior is eclectic old school but a nice change from the cookie cut look of more modern restaurants. The food was good and so was the service, but the prices were high. If you are visiting Boston it's worth the... More

One of the city center's most historic eateries, accessible by means of a raised stone patio and wrought iron barrier, intimate, although the attraction of the place is largely the idea of its history, rather than the actual space, which is fairly standard at best. Marliave can be very busy, and the staff rushed, but for good reason - the... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
