The room is comfortable and attractive. Noise is not an issue. Window tables have a nice view of Downtown Crossing. The food is good and prices are fair. Service is excellent. Good list of wines by the glass and a generous martini. Easy access from Downtown Crossing T station.

The restaurant name is not so catchy and so is the local nick "Lil' Bob" for a French bistro, the entrance is small but once inside it's a total different open feeling with glass window running the entire half block. So conveniently located right above the Red Line Downtown Crossing station, and hidden inside the the landmark 101 Arch building.... More

Visited with the family on a very busy lunch hour. Friendly service, children friendly. Excellent food true to the French bistro concept. Very good beer on draft, impressive to see Boulevard Tank 7. Food platters were big. Very nice if in the neighbourhood.

Convenient location at Downtown Crossing. The seating, service and ambience are all first class. Good wine list and generous cocktails. The food is very good and reasonably priced.

My food was good, but my wife is a vegetarian. She ask that here veggy burger be cooked in a pan and not deep fried in the same oil that the fish is fried in. They said they could do that, but did not. It was deep-fried. The manager corrected the mistake but she had to order a flatbread. My... More

Petit Rober Central is the unknown restaurant of the Petit Robert Bistro chain in Boston. Taxi driver told two of my companions that there was no Petit Robert Bistro there. Luckily they knew better (to follow the directions they were given). Dinner was great though our English/Frenchman' comment was 'food was excellent', but not enough french food!

The original Petit Robert at Kenmore is one of my favourites whenever I visit Boston. This time, I thought I would give the new manifestation in the Downtown/Financial District a go. It was ... well, ok. They didn't have the wine I ordered, but the alternative offered was acceptable. The crispy poached egg salad ( what we call a salade... More

Petit Robert Central is one of our favorite restaurants downtown. We were there on a Friday night and there was a lively afterwork bar crowd but when you went into the dining room that melted away. The cheese plate was great and I had a trout special that was outstanding. Service was good and we enjoyed the evening very much.

It's on the pricey side but the food and drinks aren't bad. The atmosphere is really good for meetings during the day time. At night, it may get a little louder, but it's still a great place to meet up with close friends or colleagues.

We went there for dinner with an out of town guest on a Saturday night. The restaurant is located on the second floor of a commercial building. The decor is very nice and the noise level was very comfortable, perfect for conversation (even though there was a big party going on in separate room). They have a well stocked bar... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
