First time eating here. Food was amazing. Pasta was freshly made. Every employee that we had contact with was super friendly. The restaurant is not in the vicinity of all the other places so it's not as easy to find. We found it by accident by walking around in the neighborhood. We come to Boston once a month and will... We asked the concierge at our hotel (Marriott Long Wharf) is she knew of a good Italian restaurant. She said that she loved a place named La Summa which was right off of the Little Italy part of Boston. We said, cool, and headed out. This is a cloth napkin place that was absolutely empty when we arrived. (There in... More

Wow. We had an amazing meal here. We had appetizers, salad, chicken limone, the house special, arancini, gnocchi. All of it was fantastic. Our waiter was helpful in guiding us through the options. I cannot wait to go back. Only downside, I fear it has ruined me for other Italian restaurants.

My wife and I were in Boston for a night and found this restaurant in the North End. Place was just opening and wonderful lady seated us in the window while they continued to set up for the evening. Wonderful Italian style ambiance made us feel so relaxed. Not a lot to pick from but we had good choices and... More

We had a large dinner party and the service was exceptional. Although all the meals were very good, I would say the pasta, which was homemade, was the standout. I have not eaten gnocchi anywhere in the world that was better than what we got at La Summa. Its exceptional and authentic. Its an unpretentious, small and reasonably priced place... More

My husband and I had a fabulous meal here. Very quiet little place on a week night in Dec. great service, wonderful food, nice ambiance. I had the special which was mussels, shrimp on pasta, my husband a shrimp and pasta dish. We shared the salad for two. All was great, good sized portions, can't say anything negative at all.... Wonderful experience. My mom had the House Special and I had the Gnocchi. I had the tiramisu for dessert. Everything tasted fanstatic! You must ask for the server named David. He is exceptional, execpecially for us as first time guests. We had a ton of questions and he was extremely patient and lead us in the right direction for all... More

One of the finest meals we ever had in Boston's famed North End. Just off Hanover street in stands alone on 30 Fleet Street. In business for over 30 years Host Barbara Summa treats her clientele like family. The. Stuff artichokes were very delicious and our main pasta dishes were devouring. The prices were very competitive for the area. We... More

Staying in North End

Neighbourhood Profile
North End
Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or Mike’s serves a better cannoli. Before your food coma sets in, make sure to stop by historic Paul Revere’s home, and follow the Freedom Trail to Old North Church and Copp’s Hill Burying Ground. Take a rest in a cafe on Hanover street and observe the quirky, European character of the North End.
