It's always a nice surprise to find lamb shawarma, even if it is blended with beef; it was definitely the star of our dinner. Everything else, from the baba-ganoush to the falafel and pita bread, was extremely ordinary.

It was my spouse that had the lamb kebab plate, and he said he'd never had meat so tough he literately couldn't chew it without hurting his jaw. I tasted it and it was nicely flavored, but he could not finish it because of not being able to chew. My lamb chops were no problem as for chewing, but were... More

Dropped in this place and what a nice surprise. Chicken kabob and rice plate was very good and generous portion. Plain decor but attentive and friendly service.

Many restaurants have come and gone on Newbury and Boylston Streets over the past 26 years... But, Cafe Jaffa remains. A testament to the restaurant's great food, good prices, and friendly staff/owners. The daily specials are a steal - Monday's falafel sandwich, chips, and a garden or Greek salad for $8.75 has always been my favorite. Their falafel is the... More

I got the houmus falafel combo platter while my wife ordered the falafel platter. For some strange reason, the combo platter was much smaller than the falafel platter, even though it was significantly pricier. And there were fewer (4) falafels in the combo than in the falafel platter (6). But that was just as well, since the falafel was just... More

Our first visit to the delightful Cafe Jaffa will certainly not be our last! We are Middle Eastern food aficionados and this sweet little restaurant did not disappoint. The service - thank you, Anna - was charming, attentive and kind. We had the Jaffa Feast for two. It was a huge amount of delicious food starting with a Greek salad... More

Picked up dinner for the whole crew. Got kabob platters, schwarma salads and apps. All were delicious and very generous portions at very fair prices. Meat was properly cooked but still tender and juicy. All salads were good size with plenty of feta and veggies. Three dip appetizer was also good size.

Stopped for a quick lunch. We were disappointed in the middle eastern food. Didn't finish the plates. Sad, as we were excited going in. Perhaps our expectations were too high...

Staying in Back Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
