Great place for breakfast. May have to wait a while for a table but worth the wait. Griddle cakes a must. A breakfast that sets you up for the day.

This place has such amazing breakfast food. We stopped in around 8 on a Saturday morning and just had an excellent meal. We both got giant plates of food and every piece was delicious. The bacon slices are big and the potatoes are so good, my eggs were cooked perfectly and even just plain buttered toast exceeded my expectations. It... More

We went here for breakfast last Sunday. Had not come here for breakfast in a year or so . A lot has changed. Gone are the days of communal dining, you now have your own 4 top, when there is only 2 of you dining. I kept expecting then to seat someone next to us, but it never happened. I... More

My wife and I had such a good breakfast at Charlie's on Sunday. This place is pretty much what you would expect - long lunch counter with a few tables serving classic breakfasts with an endless cup of coffee. I had the Spanish omelette and my wife had scrambled eggs, home fries and bacon for about $10 each. Not too... More

I have always loved Charlie's and it's institutional history but very disappointed that they've gotten rid of cranberry griddle cakes, as they were something I'd get every time I visited and were a special feature of breakfast at Charlie's for me. Also didn't enjoy the DJ booth and club music (this particular visit was on a Sunday afternoon).

After reading the reviews, I thought I would stop off for breakfast. Ordered ham and eggs, the ham was the cheap preformed ham which was disappointing. Eggs and potatoes were as expected. Not worth making a detour.

We just happened upon Charlie's as we were on our way to a different restaurant. Charlie's was busy and smelled really good. One of the chefs took us to a table and recommended we order quickly because they were turning off the grill in 5 minutes. We didn't realize they closed at 2 pm and it was a little after... More

The blueberry pancakes were fresh and could have fed 3 people. We sat at the counter and enjoyed watching the master flipping food and creating breakfast magic!

Recently reopened breakfast stop. Next door to Giacomo's in South End. Nice diner with excellent service. Be sure to try the turkey hash!

This place felt very authentic. We called in for breakfast - recommended by our American friends who had eaten there the morning before. It's a small diner and we had to wait outside for a table to become free. It was raining but that didn't matter! They added our name to their waiting list and we were called about 20... More

Staying in Back Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
