Celebrated my wife's birthday at Aquitaine tonight and absolutely loved the Tremont location. We have been to their Chestnut Hill spot many times but the South End is a terrific location and this restaurant has a great vibe and was romantic at the same time. Stephanie had the chicken and I had the duck. Both were prepared to perfection. Satee... More

Great food, fab selections of wines and ciders. Booked for a Saturday lunch not realising they were serving the Brunch menu, WE needn't of worried, it was great! I had the Kale and leek skillet, which was divine! My niece had the Mac and cheese and her partner an omelette...all good. The Muscadet was good and reasonably priced too.

From out of town, and have been meeting Boston friends here for years. I love Aquitaine, its menu, the ambience. Servers generally excellent. Last night one of our table returned a tough steak and the staff couldn't have been more helpful or apologetic..I cringe when this happens because of fussy eaters but the complaint was legitimate and the staff handled... Great French bistro in the South End! The recently renovated restaurant is fresh but classic. We always enjoy the Steak Frites (totally delicious fries!), but I enjoy the Duck a l'Orange too. Desserts are pretty amazing too. Service is strong. Too bad we waited so long time for our main dishes.

Excellent atmosphere and service! Diego, the bartender, is so friendly and he makes great drinks! I ordered the mussels with fries. The sauce was incredible A creamy, mustard based sauce. My friends ordered the Croque Madame. Excellent. Highly recommended.

A good place to relax and have the feeling of a Parisian bistrot. Nice wine, friendly service (thank you Erik), great Coq au Vin and Steak Frites. Good value for money. Uncomplicated night out.

Service was way too slow and the food just average. Came here on a recommendation but wont be back again. Not bad but.... there has to be better in this town.

We were quickly seated for a late dinner with drinks. Our waitress was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the restaurant's history. My pasta mouchoir was served quickly, creamy but light. A companion ordered lamb which is a winner. The restaurant was busy but laid out so that tables aren't so close that conversations are lost in the noise.

Aquitaine recently completed a major renovation. It took longer than expected, but was worth the wait when it reopened. The decor was well done, and the ambience was quite nice. (Be aware of the chill at the front of the store during the winter when the door is opened.) The food was excellent, and although duck and steak frites are... More

Thoroughly enjoyable. The atmosphere is second only to the food. Delicious is an understatement. I hate to mention how reasonably priced it is for fear they raise the prices.

Staying in South End

Neighbourhood Profile
South End
Stroll down the beautiful brownstone lined streets while capturing views of Boston’s tallest buildings from a distance. Some of Boston’s best restaurants are scattered around this neighborhood. There are many gems to be found, from jazz clubs to classy bars and restaurants. It is also home to art galleries, interesting boutiques, artsy stores and SOWA open market during the summer months. The South End is a true find in the city, with a more residential feeling than Back Bay.
