We enjoyed the food and service during a recent mid-week dinner with (local) friends. It was unseasonably warm for mid-May but the four of us were comfortable in a booth with the overhead fans going and, for my part, I thought the Coquilles St.-Jacques were excellent. Our server, likewise, was attentive, helpful, yet not intrusive. The layout was a bit... More

I had this expectation of a 1st class dining experience. It was less. This was a business dinner for 4. So I was less that direct with the wait staff. First of all, he led us to a table that was near the front door. I asked to be moved closer to the back as I had a cold and... More

I went there with my friend today to try their Brunch menu. Too good a deal to miss. For $12, you guess a cinnamon bun, a glass of fresh squeezed juice, coffee and omelette of your choice. Staff was very friendly and very attentive. Enjoyed the place very much and will definitely come back.

My team and I chose Aquitaine for their late-served Saturday brunch, and inexpensive French-inspired fare. We arrived about 5 minutes early for our late afternoon reservation, and due the tiny, near-filled to capacity space, we had to wait outside in the rain for our table to be cleared. We were seated more or less at our reservation time. The place... More

A very pleasant restaurant and look forward to coming back. Good food, good service. I loved the salads and the foie gras.

This is my kind of place. Classic French bistro atmosphere and classic bistro menu. We had high expectations when we arrived and the decor and lighting suggested a fun and romantic evening. The problems lay in the food and the service! Our server was friendly and knowledgeable and the issue was the long gaps between seeing him! He seemed burdened... More

With a short drive to the South End, you feel like you are having breakfast in some Paris cafe. Coupled with the decor, the coffee and buttery smell of French cuisine instantly evoke memories of past trips. The service was good and the beautiful bar is a nice touch. It was breakfast and the inexpensive fix price menu was a... More

We visited Aquitane for our farewell dinner of Boston because it was the only restaurant that I saw with Coquille St.Jaques on the menu . Surprise, I was served very small scallops without the creamy wine sauce, breadcrumbs and everything else that goes with the recipe of Coquille St. Jacques. Imagine ordering beef bourguignon and be served pieces of beef... More

We love the atmosphere, the location, the service. Very classic French style. The kitchen has a little work. The French toast was overdone and dry. The duck hash had two small pieces of duck and was mostly leek. I like leeks but not as a main. And just because I am curious why would you serve maple syrup from California... More

My daughter and I had a hankering for Steak Frites all week, so we decided to go all in and treat ourselves to Aquitaine. The recently renovated restaurant has a Parisian bistro style and most if not all of the tables have banquet seats on one side and bistro chairs on the other. Our waitress was very well-versed on the... More

Staying in South End

Neighbourhood Profile
South End
Stroll down the beautiful brownstone lined streets while capturing views of Boston’s tallest buildings from a distance. Some of Boston’s best restaurants are scattered around this neighborhood. There are many gems to be found, from jazz clubs to classy bars and restaurants. It is also home to art galleries, interesting boutiques, artsy stores and SOWA open market during the summer months. The South End is a true find in the city, with a more residential feeling than Back Bay.
