We saw this restaurant featured on Neighborhood Kitchens on PBS and decided months previous that we would go there whenever we got up to Boston from the Cape. So last weekend we had a romantic weekend in Boston, and this was the first reservation we made. Upon arrival we could tell that it was very busy and a bit loud... More

We had the Espresso coffee crusted filet mignon. It was delicious, and their Costera wine went well with it. Never had steak like that before and it was a wonderful surprise. The blend of Peruvian and Italian is interesting. The service was great. Will go back the next time we are in Boston

I was fortunate enough to discover this restaurant. It was absolutely incredible the fusion of Italian/Peruvian food was fantastic. I had the Baby Octopus appetizer that was big enough for two people and then the most fantastic Argentinian steak. It was way too much food, but I made a good attempt. The service was also great. It was a slow... More

We had an amazing dinner at Taranta. The Peruvian /Italian combination was awesome. I had the Coccio Di Pesce aka Baby octopus.it was amazing and could have been a meal by itself.make sure you have it with the Toast. My wife had the Causa de Cangrejo- aka -crab cakes. The house wine by the glass was fantastic - I am... More

We attended an Italian Cooking Class as part of a company management break away and enjoy every minute of it. The group was divided into 4 teams - one learned how to make pasta, another how to stuff a chicken and pork loin, another team made cappers salad from scratch (including making own mozzarella) and the last team produced a... The food was good and interesting. Just come in a group of 3 or more. There is limited tables for two. They have those tables in the worst locations. By the door or by the kitchen. We have to sit by the kitchen near the stairs. Smallest table ever and people were bumping into me as they were walking in... More

That is the recipe for a hot date and Taranto delivers. We were promptly seated and very well attended to by the wait staff. The servers expertly described the Paiche special which one of our party ordered and loved. The gnocchi, Trout and Pork chops were the other entrees our party ordered and all were savored by our party of... More

I have eaten at other Peruvian restaurants and I guess I expected a bit more authentic Peruvian fare. Taranta is more a South American take on Italian food. It does this fairly well. The wait staff is BUSY and they work so hard-kudos! My Pisco sour cocktail was fantastic and hand made by our waitress. The appetizers of crab meat... More

We ate here Sunday night with our three teenagers. The atmosphere is old world Italian with a great view of the city from the windows, and it's on the smaller side, so it feels intimate. The meal was delicious! From the antipasto platter, homemade pastas, amazingly prepared fish and yummy cappuccino and dessert. Our waitress was so attentive and we... More

Staying in North End

Neighbourhood Profile
North End
Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or Mike’s serves a better cannoli. Before your food coma sets in, make sure to stop by historic Paul Revere’s home, and follow the Freedom Trail to Old North Church and Copp’s Hill Burying Ground. Take a rest in a cafe on Hanover street and observe the quirky, European character of the North End.
