Take Out. WonTon soup was just weird, sort of oily consistency, no scallions, broth was oddly colorless as well. WonTons had zero meat in them and were scarce. Peking Ravioli were eh, the dumpling dough was so thick and the filling was nonexistant. Scallion pancakes weren't that good and were burnt. Chicken fingers were small pieces of rubbery chicken swimming... More

I have been here many times. It seems that I come here every month. But, I know it's not that often. Tonight we splurged. We had Szechuan Crab, Ma Po Tofu, spinach pie for an appetizer and sticky rice cake for dessert. What a wonderful meal. They make the crab like no other place in Boston, I love every morsel.... I've been eating at Shanghai for 30+ years and it's never let me down. The food is excellent and the service also very good. On Christmas Day 2016, we were greeted by friendly waiter with a sense of humor. Food arrived fast and was top-notch. Only the wonton soup was slightly disappointing (lacking much flavor). House fried rice is as... More

When you got into China town in Boston it doesn't fill you with confidence for a great restaurant but we really liked this one. The service was excellent and the food was too.

New Shanghai was recommended by our concierge. Based on his recommendation, I checked the restaurant out on the internet. The reviews were very mixed and somewhat confusing. We decided to check out the many restaurants in Chinatown and determine where to eat. It was Tuesday night and none of the places we looked were very busy, so we decided to... More

We were wondering around Chinatown in Boston looking for a seafood restaurant and stumbled across this restaurant which was surprisingly not full. We all ordered a variety of dishes and I ordered a sauteed lamb dish. I had never eaten lamb in a Chinese restaurant before. After negotiating with the waiter or should I say interpreting the dishes and what... More

The prices they charge are higher than labeled in the menu. When asking, they said they have recently changed price. But if so, why not updating the menu? Some other time they charge the 18% tips without telling me, and only later I found about double-tip. It happens a few times and I do not like being cheated at all.

A little dated in decor but good food. We had the Ginger Lobster and Clams and Sweet and Sour Pork. All were good. Don't bother asking for the wine list as it is pretty dire. All together a nice dinner and vibrant environment.

If you are interested in authentic spicy Sichuan cuisine, don't bother going to the other two so called "highly ranked" restaurants with "Sichuan" in the name. I tried all and this is the only one that's close to what you'll find in China. I ordered Couple's Beef and Fish in Boiling Spicy Broth. Trust me, I am a foodie from... More

Had a quick lunch here before an afternoon show last Sunday. Food was well prepared with fresh ingredients. The place is very clean. Staff was friendly too! Many Chinese -including families - were enjoying their meal as well. Definitely good!
