After seeing all the reviews on TripAdvisor for James Hook & Co., I had to make it a stop on our most recent trip to Boston. And I'm so glad I did! One of the best lobster rolls in Boston! We stopped by for a quick lunch before sightseeing. Quick ordering process, reasonable prices and great food! If the weather... More

My son and I wanted to have Lobster rolls and Lobster chowder for brunch on our weekend visit to Boston and this is the place referred by a friend. The place is small but we were lucky to get one table inside, otherwise we couldn't sit outside on that rainy day. The menu is well mentioned on the upper side... More

I trekked all over Boston for a week and the best lobster roll for both value, taste, and price was James Hook. Not only is it loaded with lobster for $20, but the lobster is also not overcooked (like many other locations) The people there are super awesome and friendly (I think its family run) and they are more than... It's a tourist trap and the staff treats you that way! You feel you are doing them a favor by coming there. food mediocre, and the shell fish -oysters, clams etc don't look fresh. Surly attitude and a big disappointment, not to mention eating in the cold outside-they have six tables.

Thank Kim S
Management response:

Kim, first of all, we're sorry if you felt like you were treated with any disrespect while you were here. We have the best lobster rolls in Boston, and we want to give you a taste of what Boston's really about -- our delicious seafood and culture. We are in a temporary structure after a fire destroyed our building. We... More

This was suggested to me as a "must eat" whilst in Boston. So we plumped for a lobster roll. It is certainly a tasty lobster offering and you could also buy some seafood to take home from the shop. I did however think this was an expensive lunch for less than 5 mins eating, so it may be a one-off... More

Management response:

While lobster tends to cost a pretty penny, rest easy in knowing that we'd only buy the best. That being said, we hope that you enjoyed yourself here! We hope to see you back again on a special occasion. Yours, The Hooks More

This place is literally a double wide trailer in the middle of Boston. You walk in and are greeted by huge tanks of live lobsta and crab of all sizes. The people working there were very friendly too and seemed to take pride in their craft. We tried a few different dishes. The lobsta Mac n Cheese was the best... More

Unfortunately for us the loud music made the experience a little stressful. It's a small space with lots of character and great service but there's a bit of bad fish smell when you go in. Sought this place out specifically because of great reviews and the lobster and prawns were delicious. Bigger chunk of lemon would have been nice. Overall... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
