My husband and I were in San Francisco for only 3 days and we ate at Boudin's restaurant upstairs twice in 2 days. The menu choices are outstanding and the food is delicious.

Freshly made bread. My son and husband loved the soup bowl. I sampled a couple dishes, they were all excellent.

Boudin's is not a cheap lunch place, but the food is good and the service is usually excellent - until this time. Our server was abrupt, curt and not accommodating. The food was decent, but the surly server ruined the mood.

Nice comfortable place to eat. Has oyster bar and regular bar plus large dining area with views of fisherman's wharf. Food was good, service a bit slow but good. Good selection of pasta and seafood

We could smell the aroma of freshly baked bread as soon as we parked the car in San Francisco. We headed straight to Boudin's for lunch. Crab cake sandwich was just okay, but chill in the bread bowl was hearty and delicious. Long lines, but it moves quickly. A little pricy for what you get, but we definitely recommend!

The three of us shared a great appetizer of dungeness crab/artichokes with toasted sourdough bread. Delicious! We had the Clam Chowder in a bread bowl, that too was excellent - It was a Friday. This place is busy, but it's worth the wait, eat at the cafe upstairs, quieter, more enjoyable with excellent views.

Some people come to Northern California for wine, I come for the sourdough. This is a great place for the kids and a good breakfast or lunch. When my son was 7, he saw the bread makers in the window make a turtle. We bought one for him to eat and now that he is 13, guess what... we went... More

We eat in the restaurant versus the café, the food is the same. In the future, I would stay in the café. The prices in the restaurant are 2x the prices in the café. We did enjoy the view from the second level. Paying $64 for lunch (soup in a bread bowl & a couple drinks) is unreasonable, even on... More

I had the clam chowder with a small salad. Good, but nothing special, had better elsewhere. I'd appreciate if such a tourist spot would also cater wifi for customers.

Staying in SoMa

Neighbourhood Profile
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighbourhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
