The food is delicious and authentic. The owner sings! The wait staff are hospitable, knowledgeable, and have authentic Italian accents. In the heart of Little Italy. This is the real deal folks. Mi piace molto!

This Italian has very good service, atmosphere and food. There is a lot of Italian restaurants in this area an we was very satisfied with our decision. As everything else in California it is very high prices. It is just to accept and catch the moments. We had great Carbonara and Lasagna.

Loved the food and location in the heart of North Beach. We loved the food and hospitality at this nice restaurant. We had a small group of people and it was nice that the place was somewhat quiet so we could hear all our conversations. Would go Back again. Thank you.

I've been coming to Pinnochio's for a bit over ten years now - it's my favorite Italian restaurant in the world. It has a real Italian feel, less of the "IT'S A-ME, MARIO" that the nearby Stinking Rose has and more of "here's a great restaurant that Italians would eat at" vibe. There's rarely a line to get in, and... More

Wonderful ambience. Could be in Roma with an airy, high ceiling dining area and outdoor tables overlooking a busy street. Food is fine Italian bistrot/trattoria style. Fried calamari not oily Well prepared. We had an earlyish brunch on a Sunday and it was quiet and lovely. Service was fine. Not inexpensive but all in al delightful.

We had dinner here after wandering the city on our recent short visit. The food was incredible - we got a seafood linguini the italian sausage ravioli - both were awesome with lovely flavours and great textures. We enjoyed the wine as well and the service was very good. Our server was friendly. It was a treat for us -... More

We had lunch here on New Years Eve. Just happened to stumble on the place, not knowing it had been around for years. Several in the parties had one of their lunch paninis, all of which were excellent. Two of us had a calzone, also terrific. My wife had cappellini pomodoro which was fresh and delicious. I also had their... More

The food was tasty, but watch out the bill. The food is expensive as it is, so to get overcharged the wrong price and for items we didn't even order was disappointing. The service was slow and the drink order was not correct either. We had to ask for one of the drinks twice and when it finally came it... More

We come here every 3-4 years and Giovanni remembers our names. Wonderful conversation and fantastic food. Presentation is marquee, drinks compliment the food and the gnocchi melt in your mouth. Try the gnocchi Enzo, Giovanni wouldn't give me the recipe but told me it took him 40 years of practice everyday! They are absolutely amazing! Waiter had been here for... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighbourhood home.
