I really cannot say enough, but get a reservation....this place always books up quick. Very classic style of serving with the meat cart and the servers are traditional which in this day and age is a very nice detail. Get there a bit early and enjoy the mixed drinks in the lounge.

They do Prime Rib right as the name describes. Finish your house cut and get another slice. Accompanied by salad, creamed spinach, bread, sometimes cornbread. For around $50, it's a deal!

If you eat....and especially if you eat meat... you must try HOPRs prime rib. You go there for that...nothing else! And you come back for more. That's what makes it great. What's amazing is that it is actually reasonably priced for what you get. So much food to go around that there is no way you are leaving hungry. I... More

Excellent prime rib and accompaniments. I've eaten here twice now, both times without a reservation, just walked in at 5:30 and joined the bar list for a spot. The food is excellent, the service is extremely professional and the atmosphere is nice, if just a bit too crowded and touristy for my liking.

The menu is very simple. You choose your cut of meat and a side. The chef comes to your table with a cart a cuts your meat fresh and in front of you. The ambiance is perfect. The wine selection is great. We had a great server and loved the food. A MUST GO.

My girlfriend made a reservation for a late birthday dinner here (booked three months in advance mind you). During this time we read and article that claimed House of Prime Rib was #1 in the US... so we had very high expectations. I have to say, it did not disappoint! Our service (wish I could remember our waitresses name) and... More

House of Prime Rib could easily rest on its laurels and become a touristy spot serving mediocre food. Instead, it revels in its service--and its prime rib! I always enjoy the hush that falls over the room when a server wheels the enormous silver cart (just slightly smaller than a Fiat 500) into the room and reveals massive prime ribs... More

Prime rib was excellent & portions were large but prices start at $40/person, so definitely not cheap eats. We ate at the bar, had quick & excellent service from Jeremy & enjoyed a very nice local wine, Jax. Very busy for a Thursday night. Yorkshire pudding also excellent & horseradish had amazing kick! Thanks for a very delicious & filling... More

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
