We stopped by on a recommendation from a friend and we are glad we did! The surprise was the outdoor seating which could have been a problem if it was any colder. The brat and gnomeburger were excellent. We wish we were here longer to try their restaurant. The beers were good, not as many varieties as I was expecting...but... More

Love this place. The energy is really great. Such a nice outdoor space to hang out with friends or peeps from office - a great place for some great beer, pickles, pretzels and sausages. Good fun! Have been here already twice and will be back. It can get bit cold after sunset so bring a jacket! It is usually pretty... More

Cool outdoor seating area with good bar food and large beers! The selection of German and Belgian beers is quite good ... nice spot.

Went twice this trip. Outdoor eating. Hotdogs come on well toasted buns w/mustard and fresh kraut. Nummy. Had braut too - not as good. Knowing SF very healthy - not spicy enough, needed salt / and tasted almost a little gamy. Curry fries looked good. I swapped with potato salad that was crunchy and light. Well done. Also tried the... More

I was very excited to come here. My husband and I had found this "hidden gem" here on trip advisor. We are from Michigan and have a lot of experience with German styled beers and biergarten's. My husband loved this place. It was right up his alley. He loved the beer, bratwurst, curry potatoes, and pretzel. I did not have... More

Came here to meet with a friend from the city. Great recommendation. Seriously cool cafe/beer garden made from shipping containers. Even the restrooms - and who gets excited over restrooms! Nicely done. Friendly staff - particularly one lovely gentleman who we were watching and he was just busy helping everyone, clearing tables, smiling. Lovely to sit outside and enjoy the... More

I loved this place. Shipping containers turned into the kitchen and service area. They were professionally built with a contemporary flair - not cheap. Nicely equipped. Lots of tables in the fenced in biergarten and lots of nice fun people. We drank lots of great beers, at pretzels and sausages, deviled eggs and a few more things. Perfect way to... More

Love coming here for a beer, and I don't even like beer. Food is great, sausages, pretzels, pickles. A nice spot to sit with friends in the warm sun.

It felt like it took half an hour to wait in line 5 people back to get two beers. The selection is also very small. The "garden" part is nice and there is food available. Would be a fun place to join friends for lunch and beers on a sunny weekend day. We stopped in during sightseeing, on a Sunday... More

...you must stop at the Biergarten. There's nothing, and I mean nothing, like sitting outside on a perfectly chilly and sunny day, having a cold beer, while wrapped up in one of the wool blankets they have readily available. An unforgettable San Francisco experience!!

Staying in Hayes Valley

Neighbourhood Profile
Hayes Valley
Chock full of designer boutiques, art galleries, funky shoe stores, and great restaurants, it’s hard to imagine Hayes Valley once languished in the shadow of a major freeway.
