Well firstly I should say we were there as part of a food walking tour so only sampled a portion of food. It was the kale, which was not to my liking as it had a dairy free sauce on top. There were also other samplers which were all Vegan and Organic. The interesting part to this was the the... More

My husband and I had such fun here tonight! Was knocked out by Cuban guest pianist Chuchito Valdés, regular Eddie Navia, and the Pachamama Band. A lot of talent and energy on that stage! The menu surprised me because I didn't expect a two sided menu that had vegan/gluten-free offerings on one side and raw vegan/gluten-free choices on the other.... More

Loved this South American restaurant that stayed open for us to eat and chat well beyond closing time. Was here last week. Pena has a romantic ambience and lounge feel to its seating arrangements. All in all I will repeat when I'm next in San Francisco.

I went here over a month and a half ago, so I'm operating from memory here. I went for the Flamenco show and dinner while in SF for work. I can't remember the exact price. I think it was around $45. I thought this was not cheap, but not exorbitant for dinner and entertainment in the city. The food was... More

I went to this restaurant with good friends of mine who had not experienced it, but we decided to give this place a try...we love good food, especially if it is healthy, and we all love good Flamenco dance and music...well, we got almost all we expected and wanted. The food is good, the Flamenco entertainment was good, we had... More

My husband and I visited San Francisco this week and found this restaurant through a google search for restaurants that use non GMO products. We ate at this restaurant yesterday and absolutely loved it. The menu is amazing! We started with the Raw Housemade Buckwheat Crackers with Guacamole. This was delicious! We also had the Organic Raw Vegan Sampler which... More

My friend and I came here because she wanted to hear live music. The menu is vegetarian, vegan and raw options. We shared the tacos with the kale chips that were really tasty! We also shared the cheesecake that was excellent! The sangria was very good! It's a small restaurant with a small bar hidden in the back. I wouldn't... More

Stunning food , even the non vegans thought the food was excellent and really interesting. You can choose cooked or "live" i.e. raw. We went cooked and every starter was a delight. But leave room for desserts! I looked at the menu of cheescake, brownies and ice cream and apologised to the waitress that I couldn't eat any of it!... More

Visited here after seeing the reviews on Happy Cow. We went at lunch which was very quiet but the welcome was warm. They have a good menu of all vegan, gluten-free South American food. Everything we tasted was delicious and we will certainly return one evening to hear the music. The restaurant has a great history too.

I had a lovely meal here after seeing Beach Blanket Babylon. We arrived fairly late on a Sunday evening but this was not a problem, we were recommended some items from the menu which were absolutely delicious. There was a cooked menu and a raw menu which looked amazing. We missed the entertainment on this occasion which is a shame.... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighbourhood home.
