None of us had ever eaten before in an Afghan Restaurant but the vegetarian offering attracted us as one member of our party doesn't eat meat. All of us really enjoyed our meals which were well balanced but not so highly spiced as Indian food....More

I've been coming to some incarnation of Helmand (north beach, outpost in Phoenix and now on Van Ness) for the past 25 years. Spices and acid are so perfectly balanced it's addictive. Aushak, Banjan, Kaddo, and Koufta kabab are among my favorites....but you really can't...More

I ordered Helmand Palace for delivery, and got their sabzi, cauliflower and pumpkin toppings - all vegan. They were all good, the pumpkin being the best. The prices were average. The rice was not enough, but they made up with it with their barbari bread....More

Russian Hill has evolved into a chic residential
neighborhood with outstanding views from every corner.
Combined with several great cafes, restaurants,
antique shops and boutiques, it’s easy to see why any
visitor would gladly leave their heart in San

Lombard Street, the “crookedest” street in the world,
and make the slow creep downhill past charming period

We don't here because the manager keeps our favorite zin available (Opolo Mountain Zin). The wine list is not very large. However prices are reasonable. You could call them and ask about corkage fees. Enjoy this... More
