We visited Plaj after it was recommended to us by friends. We found it to be an excellent adventure with the Elk Tartare, Lobster Gnocci, and Pork chop being the big stars.. The service was very good with the staff attentive when needed while not being overbearing.

A charming restaurant located at the Inn at the Opera, close walking to the Opera House, Ballet, and Symphony. Ideal for a pre-event dinner. Food is Scandinavian with abundant fish and smoked meats and game. Elegant decor, although back room can be noisy. Service is adequate and geared toward getting you out on time for your performance. We will definitely... More

In house restaurant, Inn at the Opera. Modest but well edited menu. Are here twice and both times a very good experience. Good choice of wines, bottles and by glass. Superb staff. Great location for pre/post performance meal or drink.

We went to the restaurant a Sunday evening and even though there weren't many other guests, we had to wait forever before a member of staff found the time to find us a table. After placing our order we once again were stuck waiting for the food to come - again, despite only a half full restaurant. We ordered Swedish... More

Couldn't get a reservation, sat at the bar, Tim provided excellent service, loved the hearing and smorgasbord, great Ox Cheek, every bit was a delight.

The menu is, for the most part, genuinely Scandinavian. For those who love it (as I do) this is a great discovery. The herring is delicious and so are the fish and vegetables. I did not taste the meat courses but they looked good too. Only the desserts were a bit too gooey. I wish there was something traditional like... More

The food was really good and the game meat was superb. The room was a bit bright and the eating area was not 100% cozy. Service was good. Perfect visit for a scandinavian who's tired of deep fried and fat food and want some proper "husanskost".

hate to say that its tough to find a really good sf restaurant that you can hear others without them shouting, have room enough to stretch your arms without hitting someone in the head and the wonderful attentive but not intrusive service. we had a great time here and will be taking others back. gravlax was sensational and cured with... We liked this restaurant for a number of reasons. Firstly they have valet parking for $10 plus tip. We had dinner in the restaurant and then went to a concert at the Herbst theater and the charge was still only $10 which is a bargain in SFO. The restaurant is small, quiet, the tables are not on top of each... More

Although the restaurant is dark, it seems a restful atmosphere for a quiet conversation. The service was good, the herring outstanding and the rest of the meal very pleasant.
