I have been all over the state of California and the city of San Francisco is a special place. I mean you got LA and San Diego and everything in between. San Francisco has a flavor unmatched in California and even the Pacific Northwest. I...have been going to some German or Austrian restaurants in San Francisco for some time now. It's a mix of things because you know there is Chinese and Indian and Mexican and Italian food. Gotta go for those fun German restaurants in SF that have so much character and fun experiences. The wood frames inside and the old tavern feel. It's like a chalet in Europe. Well, German food is simple enough as I say. Schnitzel, sausages...at this place I had the salmon, potato pancake side, and my friend had beer. The beer experiences are fun at German restaurants. I love potato pancakes. I make them at home sometimes. These experiences are fun and here's one for the checklist in SF.More

Our favourite restaurant in America! The staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. We ordered soup, salmon, Weiner schnitzel & apple strudel- every dish was fantastic! A large drinks menu and great atmosphere (vibrant & loud)

My first impression upon walking in the restaurant was of what I'd expect if I were actually in Austria eating authentic cuisine. There is traditional music playing throughout the restaurant and the servers are wearing authentic outfits. Everyone there is so sincere, but the thing...that I'd suggest you get if only given one chance to eat here would be the chicken schnitzel. It's so crispy and the chicken is still juicy and it's just this unforgettable taste unrivaled to any other schnitzel I've ever had. Be sure to ask for the lingonberry relish on the side though, as it is a nice accompaniment to whatever you order.More

I stopped in for brunch to this amazing Alpine style eatery on Polk Street on Russian Hill. I knew I was going for the Weiner Schnitzel, Spätzle and draft bier. I had been to Dresden and Vienna last summer and this chef's preparation was far...superior to what I had in either city. If you want a meal that transports you to Central Europe go to this delightful spot.More

We had this place recommended and even though it was Saturday night and very busy, the super friendly owner found a table for us. The food is the real Austrian deal and very delicious. The portions are fit for a Kaiser. When you have had...US fastfood for too many days, this is what you want.More

The best German food in San Francisco. If we hadn't driven from our hotel to Leopold's, we would have thought we were enjoying dinner in Germany! Excellent and friendly service. Excellent food options. When you want some authentic German food, this is the place to...go in San Francisco.More

Great food and atmosphere at Leopold’s. Authentic German food, servers in German traditional clothing, the decor is German and it’s super fun. You can order your beer in a giant glass boot (if you can drink that much) and they ring a bell every time...someone orders a boot. Definitely a must visit place if you want to get out of the touristy areas of San Fran.More

We were a group of four guys, all foodies. Everyone loved the place. The food is very authentic German fare, best of the best. It's the best Bavarian restaurant I've ever been to and I've been to many. The staff was great too. I will...come back!More

Had a great Wiener schnitzel with german potatoes and cucumber salad with a lovely kosteritzer black beer. Limited menu, but interesting decor and hofbrau background music. Beer menu was excellent. Will be back for more soon.

Booked here specially for this Austrian Restuarant after reading reviews and description on the internet, and it did not disappoint. This was our favourite restuarant during our visit to San Francisco. Had a main course chicken dish which was delicious, followed by apple strudel and ice...cream, all washed down with some beer which was either Austrian or German. The restuarant was busy and had a good vibrant atmosphere, and the service was also very good.More
