Solid arepa stand. We liked the grilled chicken arepa ($12 for one large arepa). I also enjoyed the plantains with black beans and coconut rice. Service was perfunctory. Very casual - space for about 20 people to sit.

Jay, we're glad everything impressed you -- I really recommended the shredded beef or the pulled pork, some good flavors packed in there! See you soon, I hope! Adriana, Owner More

My sister and I were in town for my birthday and she found a deal for this place on Groupon! What a great treat! There was so much food it was ridiculous but we tried our best to eat it all! The place is very small but we managed to get a table and enjoyed our meal while checking out... More

I went to Pica Pica twice this week for the pork and spicy sauce on the classic arepa. It comes with avocado and a pickled coleslaw. I also tried the coconut flan which is heavenly. Both were $15 and so worth it.

I'm thrilled to see that you stopped in twice throughout the week -- it's always a pleasure to give you the meals that keep you coming back. You should try he cachapa, the swetness plays off the pork flavors really well. Ido hope we'll get the chance to share even more with you. Take care! Sincerely, Adriana, Owner More

This is a order at the counter and hope there is seating. Gluten Free excellent sandwiches wrapped in a corn bun. Tasty, fast, unique and definitely will return for a wonderful meal/experience in San Francisco. Well done!

If you're looking to try something new, this may be what you're looking for. The price is reasonable and the food is a change from the Tex Mex offerings of the neighborhood.

Thanks for spreading the word about us, Carl! We definitely stand out as a Venzuelan restaurant as opposed to Tex-Mex cuisine. Hope you'll come back soon for another delicious arepa and fun times! Until next time, Adriana, Owner More

I have celiac so I do my research before dining. This place has tasty food that is worth the price. I suggest the arepa sweet yellow corn with the pulled pork. It was excellent eat it quick before the bottom half gets soggy. The shredded beef was good but the pork was better. Ground Breaker Pale Ale was a nice... More

We had a Groupon for Pica Pica. And when you buy Groupons the way we do, in places we travel to, not live in, you don't have an entirely clear picture of what you're getting in to. Pica Pica is a wonderful restaurant. It's full of bright colors, friendly staff, and delicious, out of the ordinary food. It is, however,... More

It's nothing short of wonderful you thoroughly enjoyed the unique spin we put on those arepas, Challah! You made a great choice with the shredded beef, plantains, and black beans. I'm glad the slaw was the perfect compliment as well. We use only the freshest, locally sourced ingredients around, and that ensalada with tender greens is the perfect example. As... More

It smells great in here. Those arepa fillings are so very flavorful. I like the sweet corn arepa, but he white flour arepa lacked flavor and the filling did not make up for it.

I'm glad you loved that sweet corn arepa! The fillings are definitely known for their taste, from the slow-cooked meats to all of our locally sourced ingredients, so I'm sorry if your second arepa didn't totally hit the spot. Can you let me know which arepa filling did you get? I hope you'll return soon for more delicious Venezuelan food... More

Recommended by my boy friends co-worker and our first meal in San Francisco. I looked this place up on Yelp. Mixed reviews, so of course when in doubt check out the menu! The Arepas looked amazing. So glad you enjoyed that arepa so much! As mentioned on Yelp, the slaw can be an acquired taste, but I appreciate the feedback. Our other sauces might be more your style for that next visit the Pica'pun is a definite favorite hot sauce- hope you'll come back for another Crispy Chicken arepa before too long! Description
Pica Pica's signature dish is the arepa, a grilled corn pocket crunchy on the outside, moist on the inside, and stuffed with your choice of slow-cooked meats, beans, plantains, cheese or vegetables. . . All inspired by traditional family recipes. These recipes offer a distinctive combination of sweet, savory and spicy flavors that are the soul and signature of Venezuelan cuisine. Some feel the taste is reminiscent of their Latin culinary heritage; others find it exotic, tropical and adventuresome, inviting travel and discovery. When someone bites into an Arepa de Pabellon and says it is the most amazing food he or she has ever tasted, we are reminded of why we brought our food to California. Our menu also offers sides to share (yuca fries, sweet plantains, empanadas, plantain and taro chips, ceviche) as well as salads, platters, desserts, fresh juices, beer and wine.
