Fresh!!! The food and experience Chef Michael Tusk delivers reflects his humble, quiet nature. The food is palate pleasing, rich and balanced in flavor, yet light. Cotogna makes you feel at home. This is a gem and will not disappoint! We would highly recommended to everyone.

I ate here three times ( two dinners and one lunch) over five days whilst visiting San Francisco. Every meal was great. Excellent atmosphere sitting at the bar watching the chefs at work on the wood fired grill and pizza ovens. Veal chop was sensational. I would have had the steak which looked great but it is too big for... More

Walked past yesterday and saw how amazing the food looked so booked lunch today. It is absolutely amazing - Italian with a twist. You can taste every ingredient in every dish so much so that we ordered the broccoli antipasto twice. If we weren't leaving tomorrow would go again and again. Highly highly recommend if you're in San Francisco.

Was here in September on a later Friday afternoon for lunch. The restaurant was crowded and had a great atmosphere without being too loud or noisy to talk to your companion(s). We started with the Burata, which was awesome, and then had pastas - both of which were excellent. We enjoyed our mean and would definitely recommend.

Long time fan of Quince, this reminds me of the original Quince. Everything and everyone was great. We loved talking to the mgr that evening (Alex), she was incredible and took great care of us. Can't wait to return to Quince on the next visit and experience their tasting menu.

It was a beautiful day in the city and we were just going for a walk and there was some outside seating and it was perfect! We started with a couple appetizers and we finally picked what we wanted for dinner. I had this wonderful paste with lamb and my girlfriend had pasta with quilt and we always share so... More

Being a native San Franciscan, now living in Los Angeles, I yearn for the fog, the hills and the smell of the bay. San Francisco has incredible amount of GREAT eateries. (I feel it surpasses New York, LA and Chicago). If you are in THE CITY, you have to indulge yourself to Cotogna. Located smack in the middle of the... More

Had lunch at Cotogna today. Luckily we arrived right on opening time of 1130am and got a table. Very soon after it was full of happy & contented diners. The food was great and service very friendly. Suggest booking well ahead if you have plans to dine at Cotogna!

My daughter has been here a few times when in San Francisco and recommended that we try it. The food was amazing. The interior was very cool with raw brick and a variety of woods on the walls and ceiling. Open fire for cooking and a pizza oven behind the bar. The Burrata and the Black Cabbage sformato appetizers were... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighbourhood home.
