We have been dining in Benu ever since it opened and we one of the first guests at the then new restaurant. Since then, we have returned three times and this was our fourth time - and as always, the food, service and the presentation of the individual dishes are truly outstanding. Yes, the restaurant is pricey but then again,... More

This is a good restaurant with a nice menu and enjoyable food. We enjoyed our time here. The dumpling in particular was very good. The staff presents the food like its a revolution waiting to happen, to be eaten in silence. Not a good approach. Lots of serious people looking around waiting for something. Its a 1 Michelin star restaurant... More

I have been to many upscale restaurants in the past especially in New York City, some in major European cities as well. This three star Michelin restaurant tops them all. The creativity and use of food was done to very high standards. The quality of food is also exquisite. I have a few first time food that I have never... More

We have done quite some many stars restaurants in Europe and Asia, but this one is not worth it's 3 stars. Global setting is cold and without any particular interest. Many dishes are quite creative but don't really deliver on taste experience. Finally service is very cold and distant. We paid 2000 USD for 4 people with 2 bottles of... More

We were truly impressed with the majority of the dishes but the foie gras xiao long bao and frog legs were lacking. Overall, service was excellent and food was delivered with precision timing and presentation. Sommelier was very knowledgeable with wine/beer/sake pairing. Although servings looked small, we left feeling comfortably full. Definitely giving French Laundry (which we loved) a run... More

We were extremely impressed with the food especially the seemingly endless string of super tasty and innovative amuse-bouch. The foie gras xiao long bao and the smoked quail were two standout dishes. However, the thousand year egg, chilled pine mushroom and frog legs were quite bland. Overall, wonderful meal with great service. Will definitely be back to see where Corey... More

This was the rudest restaurant ever. I made a reservation for 4 people and gave them my credit card. I was never informed that I couldn't add a person to the reservation. I had a guest able to show up at the last minute. We arrived at the restaurant and when we asked to add a chair to our table... More

What a wonderful journey this tasting menu was... everything was simply perfect during a 3 hour meal and I am (like my best 1/2 reminds me all the time) a very picky person, especially when it comes to gourmet cuisine... From the moment you arrive 'til the minute you leave, the staff delivers a clockwork choreography while staying friendly and... More

We went with high expectations and were not disappointed! One bit of advice do go with an appetite, or pass on the "small delicacies". They do wonderful presentations of 6-9 of these before the taping menu is presented. They are unusual and very good, but we filled up on them and were not able to finish the wonderful main courses!... More

My son is a chef, so our expectations were very high. They were more than met. Everything was amazing and worth every hard earned penny, as far as I was concerned. Great care and attention to detail was perfection. I don't have the type of income to throw it away, so I was nervous...but it was such a wonderful experience... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighbourhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighbourhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
