We visited the Domo Sushi on a Tuesday night, hoping to walk right in. Alas, it is a popular place and we had a 20 minute wait. The restaurant is small with a handful of tables and seating for 6 at the counter. We sat at the counter and enjoyed watching the sushi prepared. The food was excellent, very fresh... More

This is a pretty small restaurant with very good sushi. The staff was friendly and efficient. Efficiency is important when the restaurant is small and popular, as this one is. Get there early to avoid too long a wait. We'll definitely be back when next in San Fransisco.

The food is incredible - very well balanced flavours without making anything so overpowering. The wakame (seaweed) salad is delicious and the warm sushi rolls were so different from anything I've ever had but delicious. The alpha roll with mango and jalapeno and unagi was also delicious. The venue is super small and quaint, very cool and buzzing with few... More

Friendly people, the waitstaff, the maitre d, the cooks, the dishwasher, everyone was cheery and warm. The sushi taste so good, a good proportion of rice to fish, sometimes I get too much rice... this was generous on the very fresh, succulent cuts of fish, I had the "Castro", and I highly recommend it. It's a great place, small, cozy.... More

Visited our son and his future bride in San Francisco middle of July. Our son had to leave for business so had an evening with his future bride. She loves Sushi… we have never had it and were very hesitant. But we wanted to experience something unique and so gave it a shot. This sushi place looks a bit un-welcoming.... More

Interesting visit. Just happened on Domo sushi while walking around looking for lunch ideas. Almost walked past it because it's pretty unassuming. Small restaurant. Staff seems friendly. I had the happy lunch combo where you have choice of 2 items. I picked chicken karage and shrimp tempura. Comes with rice, a salad, and a really salty bowl of miso soup.... More

Domo is pretty small with about a dozen bar stools, half facing the sushi bar and the others facing the street. There are also a few two seat tables outside for when the weather is nice. The quality of the fish served here is amazing. Wide assortment of nigiri and sashimi. They make one of the best seaweed salads I... More

This is a neighborhood sushi place with really fresh, flavorful and ample sized sushi. They don't take reservations, but we were able to get a table outside on a Saturday evening in 5 minutes. Service was a bit slow, maybe because we were outside (they were quite busy, but I gather they are always packed). The menu doesn't have all... More

I was always a bit hesitant about eating sushi and had never eaten it before. I'm not into raw fish that much. We got taken to this place since it had a good reputation. And did it live up to that! I just loved the sushi! We had different dishes, but I thought all of them were just delicious. I... More

Domo Sushi is quite small so I had to wait about 30 minutes before getting a seat (without reservation though). Fish tasted really fresh and delicious; they also offered a broad variety of sake and daily nigiri and maki specials. A little expensive but well worth the try!

Staying in Hayes Valley

Neighbourhood Profile
Hayes Valley
Chock full of designer boutiques, art galleries, funky shoe stores, and great restaurants, it’s hard to imagine Hayes Valley once languished in the shadow of a major freeway. Its removal allowed for the creation of an attractive boulevard on Octavia Street with a community park at its center and dozens of trendy businesses to satisfy visitors looking for a stylish respite.
