We were just passing en route to a nearby sandwich shop for lunch when we decided to drop in for lunch. So glad we did! The staff are friendly and helpful and the service is quick and efficient. We both had the hot soup which was delicious with vegetables and chicken. This was followed by one of their great tasting... More

First time ever in SFO and very hungry. All places in the area looked extremely crowded, so we picked the only one which seemed to have free tables. We weren´t disappointed. We had a nice fried rice and a curry. Service was very fast.

Very good food. Do try the ice tea and spring rolls. Little crowded at times but quick service will make your life easier. Curries are very unique flavored and a must try.

We fancied a Thai meal and this showed up as being on our route from the hotel to AT&T Park to watch a baseball game. We had done no reviewing and were a little surprised as we arrived. The massage parlour next door was a little off putting, but in we went. If you expect high class service, don't come... More

Great Thai, lunch spot (only open Mon-Fri). No liquor license but patrons have been known to BYO. All the usual Thai favorites with perhaps a bit more spice (which I like) than the dumbed down spots catering to the faint of heart & tongue.

At first glance, this unpretentious restaurant may not even warrant a second look but for a very affordable price, good food was delivered! I ordered the Panang curry and mango rice - delicious. If memory serves correctly, alcohol can be bought in a small shop across the road and consumed with a meal as i'm unsure if they have a... More

We whipped into this restaurant for lunch and it turned out to be a great find. Excellent quality and flavourful food (chicken all white meat) with large helpings for a great price. The restaurant was clean with fast service. We would gladly return.

Wanting a quick meal after a big day of sightseeing in San Fransisco, we walked into Banana House, although it was earlyish, we were a bit worried about an empty restaurant , but needlessly so. In financial district, not fa fromUnion Square. Relaxed but attentive service, and what we had was really good - roti with yellow curry was sensational,... More

My friend and I tried Banana House and really enjoyed our dinners. I had Mango Rice with Salmon which was very flavorful! My friend got the eggplant dish that was also delicious. The restaurant was bright, cheerful and clean, and the staff was friendly and professional. A great place to get good food.

Very reasonable, good food. I had the Cashew chicken which was cooked perfectly. Someone else in our party had the Mango fried rice which was also very good .

Staying in Financial District

Neighbourhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
