Some of the best sushi and sake on the island. Great sunset views, wonderful staff, and good happy hour. Never disappoints!

Great selection of local fresh fish and sushi, sashimi. Presentation was very nice and the food memorable. Service was very good and wonderful outdoor dining setting. If you are staying at the Hyatt it should be a no-brainer to eat here but also worth a visit for those in the area.

Food was good, service was great. I wasn't overly impressed with any particular dish. Everything we had was average - good.

Great atmosphere - we sat outside at the tables in the bar area and enjoyed the live music then we ordered some of the excellent appetizers on the menu and there of the sushi roles. The Lahaina and the seared ahi tuna roll. All the food was amazing and especially the sushi was great.

Four of us shared mango shrimp salad, spare ribs (there were 5 of them), nigiri and 3 amazing rolls: Blackened Ahi, Lahaina - shrimp tempura, Rising Sun - salmon, avocado. Full bar and many Hawaiian and Japanese beers on tap. A little pricey, but well worth it at least once on your stay in Maui.

Everything was wonderful from the setting to the sushi and especially Dave our server! We tried many of the diffferemt rolls and weren't disappointed by any of them. Dave made wonderful suggestions and paced the meal out perfectly. We have also been to the more acclaimed sansei but all felt like japengo was the much better restaurant.

We have been coming to Maui for 15 years with all of our family. Japengo (in the Hyatt Regency) was one of the few restaurants we had not visited so we went on a Mon night. The food was bland and the service was extremely slow. I did hear other servers giving descriptions of specials, but our waiter did not... More

Did a sampling of sushi/sashimi with my family of 5 and really enjoyed all our choices. The Chef's roll was excellent. Service was amazingly fast considering we visited on a busy night, Christmas Eve. Great for relaxing and having conversation.

An incredible restaurant with particularly incredible and creative sushi delights. Dined twice for dinner during our 5 day stay at the Hyatt Regency. The food is matched by an equally impressive location. Surreal waterfront location with a beautfiul ambiance. Service is ok. The place can get very busy and the front of house dealing with that can be improved. We... More

After visiting another highly rated sushi restaurant in Hawaii (that was extremely disappointing), we were cautiously optimistic coming here. We were happy to be surprised - the food was really good (we did a couple of the half plates and a dessert and really enjoyed those. I agree with other reviewers about the sushi though (it was acceptable, but it... More
