Very good price and surprisingly good food and quality. Authentic Japanese deep fried food and soup noodle. Batter wasn't think. Deep fried oyster was fresh. Noodle soup wasn't salty like those MSG ones. Portion was huge. Deep fried soft shell crab was fresh too. Sushi roll was good. It is hiding in a quiet street and industrial area. We went... More

For onlookers it doesn't look like much. Small place and no upfront service. My family all ordered ramen. The broth was tasty and the chicken Katsura was crispy and delicious! Too much msg in the food though..I guess that's why it's tasty. Might try sushi instead.

I've been coming to this place back when they were in Maui Mall. Love their noodles. ATMOSPHERE: Divey, dinky little wooden building in Kahului Industrial Park. Signs abound for every pet peeve of theirs. FOOD: Tempura ramen - My all-time fav. Done in a dark soy broth. Tempura consists of two shrimp, eggplant, zucchini and green bean. The closest authentic... More

What a great throwback to the country stores that used to make plantation-style camp food up to the 1950's. What I remember of the Japanese hekka-style dishes of my childhood are found here at Matsu! Yeah, I agree, the tempura is good, but it is better at Tokyo-Tei on Lower Main Street. Matsu is great for noodles. Not the new-fangled... More

They never seem to be open when I want to eat here and the parking lot is tight. I hate the fact that there is a smokeshop next door. I thought this was a family establishment! the indoors needs revamping. You gotta serve yourself. I loved the shrimp tempura. PERFECTLY battered! nice workers. Just wish the schedule was more convenient!

On the way out of Maui, still craving for Japanese food - found this Japanese restaurant that is opened on Sunday! Yay! The tempura udon was pretty good - udon was nicely made and fresh, and the tempura batter was fresh and crisp. I would have given this 4 stars. I ordered a takeaway fried oyster, for my dinner on...
