We ate dinner here and thought the food was very good. I definitely recommend a reservation for a table on the lanai- the interior decor is funky- not sure if it just dated or bad decorating, but we didn't think the dining room was at all appealing. Although not advertised by either establishment, we were staying at the Marriott and... More

We moved to Kauai in June of 2015, so we are still relatively new here. But we have eaten at Cafe Portofino on two special occasions, the last being Valentine's Day 2017. Both meals have been excellent and we like the ambiance, with the restaurant being right at the water. Both times we have been lucky to get Diane as... More

I ate here for a nice meal on my last full day in Hawaii. I was staying at the Marriott, so the location was convenient. I had the pasta carbonara, which was alright but definitely not the best I've had. The bread wasn't anything to write home about, although my beet salad was quite good. The chocolate mousse cake tasted... More

Reservations are absolutely required. This quiet and elegant, yet inexpensive Italian restaurant was everything we could have hoped for. From the moment we arrived, we felt pampered and important. The restaurant is very popular, for good reason! Generous portions and seemingly authentic dishes made our evening meal very intimate and truly Hawaiian! My wife and I highly recommend Cafe Portofino.... More

First let me state that the food was fantastic! When we set down as two couples we ask if we could have separate checks, waitress said one check per table but she could split the check separately. When the check came she took our credit cards and went to split the check down the middle, we explained, no, we needed... More

Wonderful setting overlooking Kalapaki bay. Fresh seafood and delicious entries. I had the special pasta with seafood. The sauce was light and the seafood was perfectly cooked. The special salad was greens with portabella mushrooms which was delicious.

Because it was early, we only intended to have a cocktail (and only because we couldn't get in to Dukes next door). But we liked the look of the menu and heard there was to be some live music so decided to stay. The food was excellent (though not cheap in the Hawaiian way). We both had the Mahi Mahi... More

Yes! Italian in Hawaii, I guess not every meal requires a Mai Tai! We had great service and excellent food. There was even live music! The setting is beautiful but not uppity. The lasagna was fantastic, but the fresh fish of the day is what had our gluten free daughter requesting or family dining here twice!

Less memorable than I had expected. Nice atmosphere. Attentive staff. Our specific waitress was a little off putting and worked like she was at a local diner, rushing us along but we could see and hear other staff doing a much better job....so just an individual problem. Special of the day antipasti great! Main pasta dishes good enough....just not very... More

We went here for an early dinner and sat outside. It's a beautiful view of the bay. The food was decent but extremely expensive. We had the veal - tender and nicely seasoned, seafood pasta - lots of seafood, lamb chops. While the food was good but for the price we would n't return.
