This is just a little food cart in a shopping center and didn't look like much, but we were hungry and thought we would give it a try. WOW!!! We had tempura veggies and Volcano Shrimp and both dishes were awesome!! And only $7.99 each....If we were staying on the Big Island longer, this would be our go-to place for lunch every day!More
Though just a sort of “hole in the wall” place located in the Kings Shops in Waikoloa, Island Fish & Chips delivers in a way that is surprising. This is a fast food place that has good quality food; especially the Fish & Chips which...of course is it’s namesake. Throughout our time here in Kona almost every place we’ve eaten that does deep fried food (fish) has been sorely disappointing. Island F & C delivers a fish that is tender, flaky, and with excellent taste without going overboard on the deep fry. We also had fish tacos which were every bit as good. Seating is in the public gazebo area along the waterway and it is a very pleasant spot to sit and enjoy the food. I was surprised enough by the quality of the food that I plan on going back again.More
First night staying in Waikoloa, thought we would check out this place because it sounded good to everyone. I split a chicken sandwich with my sister and I'm glad I did because it wasn't very good. I'm pretty sure it was a frozen chicken patty...on some bread. Maybe their Fish & Chips are better, I guess I should have gone with what the name of the place actually is! I put the review as average because just because one of their items on their menu isn't very good, doesn't mean everything is bad. I'm sure their fish & chips are better since that's what they specialize in.
One positive is view is very nice, it is outdoor seating by the water.More
We have eaten here for a number of years on our many trip to Wailkoloa and we have never received a bad meal and the service is always very fast. Each item on the menu is so great that it would really be very hard...to point out which one we liked the best. The surrounding is very, very peaceful since there is seating right next to a large man-made lake with fountains plus lots of fish for the younger members of the family to watch.More
OK I have no idea if the fish and chips are any good but you have to eat the Tempera Pineapple Rings. Now take my advise DO NOT order one plate and share. I guarantee you will NOT want to share with anyone. Even if...your on your Honeymoon.More
Island Fish & Chips was the tastiest and most affordable of all the fish & chip spots we visited on our trip to the Big Island. We stumbled on it totally by accident after looking for another lunch spot. Lucky Day! They have a lot...of offerings to choose from at the take-out window and there are some wonderful tables where you can enjoy the birds and Koi along the little channel that runs past it. Wonderful tempura-battered ono was the fish of the day, and it came with tasty, fresh fries that held their crispiness throughout our meal. Don't know if their tartar sauce is homemade, but it was a wonderful complement to the fish. Getting hungry just thinking about this wonderful hole-in-the-wall dining spot!More
