Delicious! Cute little vegan/vegetarian place! Enjoyed the artichoke sandwich. We didn’t dine in but there was a sweet garden for outside dining. The macaroons were great!!

Cafe Ono is only open for lunch on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and fills up quickly because it's so incredibly good. I'm not a vegetarian, but could easily become one if I could eat here every day. I had the artichoke and hummus panini, and...added mozzarella cheese. It came with soup, salad, more bread, and guacamole chips. Everything was so delicious! There was a choice of vegetable curry or mushroom miso soup. My friend chose the first and I the second, and the flavors of both were amazing. The panini was equally delicious. Somehow I made room for homemade ice cream with brownie pieces, also delicious. The garden and the art gallery are a pleasure to stroll through and the work by local artists is an excellent value. I give this wonderful place my highest endorsement and was sorry to hear the owner, Ira Ono, wants to retire soon. He has created such a magnificent place!More

On vacation from Oahu, looking for a place we could have an experience and support the local businesses. This place was delightful. The food was flavorful, fresh and made with love. Everything was delicious. The garden seating had a tranquil feel to it. It was...quiet and peaceful. The soups were enjoyable. Mexican vegan burrito was tasty with a nice crunch to the wrapper. It came with fresh vegetable salad, soup, bread and an unexpected brownie for dessert. My husband enjoyed his egg salad sandwich. Must go!More

My wife and I had the pleasure of spending an extended break away from work on the Big Island from March to May this year. We happened to discover Cafe Ono on a drive one day and made several subsequent visits. The food is fantastic,...the grounds are impeccable, the art in the shop is amazing and Ira is a wonderful host and owner. Don't miss this spot if you go to Volcano!More

From the monument you arrive at Cafe Ono, you are treated as an honored guest! You are greeted by the owner, Ira Ono who provides an environment of peace and comfort while you enjoy creative dishes of vegetarian and vegan dishes. I had a panini...made with artichokes and cheese, a large garden salad and cup of homemade soup. Everything was outstanding! The world is crazy, right now. I would suggest a retreat to Cafe Ono for some peace and sincerity!More

We picked up take out crustless quiche - so delicious and it comes with homemade soup and the best salad as well as chips and bread. It was enough for lunch and dinner and it was tasty and healthy! The carrot cake and chocolate brownie...were to die for! No exaggeration-this restaurant is great. And the grounds are still as beautiful as ever.More

We spent for more on the art than we did on the food. Ira Ono has a wonderful gallery and a delightful setting on the edge of Volcano village. Definitely worth a stop if you are visiting the area.

Although Cafe Ono specializes in vegetarian and vegan food, the menu is quite varied, and the baked goods are amazing. I had the coconut-milk-based pumpkin vegetable soup and it was out of this world! I couldn't resist bringing home the coconut macaroon with chocolate drizzle....It was huge and lasted for several days of sneaking bites. Don't miss this place -- and eat outside among all the artworks!More

Great food in a wonderful unique setting in a garden, art studio, etc. Very generous portions with sides that were unexpected so budget friendly for Hawaii. The miso soup was simply the best we have ever had.
