Tell me if I am wrong to be mad... Went into malama, as I have done so for the last 2-3 days with my food card number written on my case paperwork because my card hasn't come in the mail yet. The cashiers have let...me do it before and my wife. They put up the enter your card screen for us then as I entered my number they canceled it and whispered to their other cashier and said that NOW I can't type it in... I have a pregnant mama at home and a baby with literally no money available at the moment. after 20 minutes of waiting in the middle of the aisle speaking to the manager who thinks its against company policy, slipping up and saying that they do it for people whose food cards don't scan any more. 20 minutes... with like 6 employees surrounding me refusing me to use my 1800.00 in their store after they let me do it before AND my wife. I got angry and swore. They kicked me out of the store for arguing. Where is the justice? Am I wrong? Do something about your immoral insensitive staff who surrounded and harrassed me for needing to feed my 9 + months pregnant family. 0 stars. Figure it out Malama.More

This is not a restaurant, it is a mid-sized grocery store. OK if you are staying in a nearby B&B, and need to buy food for your stay. Centrally located in Honokaa, it's part of the Foodland chain. There are several near-by varied restaurants.

Fairly decent grocery store in Hanokaa town. Have a little of everything. Good place to load up before heading to Waipiʻo Valley Lookout or Muliwai Trail, if necessary.

We went here several times. They have a pretty good selection of produce and meats and all the usual staples. We were even able to find Duraflame logs. The staff was friendly and I didn’t miss having a larger market around.

If coming from the Hilo side, it's almost at the end of town. Friendly folks and plenty of what you need for an outing. If coming from Waimea, you might miss it at the stop sign as you enter town. It's back to your left....Plenty of parking.More

This is part of a huge grocery chain in Hawaii. AKA Foodland, Foodland Farms and in Honokaa - Malama Market. I live in Honokaa so have no other option unless I drive 20-30 miles. The produce, meat and dairy products are often a problem at...this market. Make sure you check the dates but even then you can end up taking home spoiled food. The dairy is particularly bothersome and I have a theory that the food is not being properly stored in transit. If you open a dairy product that is supposed to be well within its usage dates and it is bad or sour it is probably due to improper handling. The produce is another issue. I can bring home something that looks okay and 2 days later it is turned to slime in my frig. Watch out for moldy bread too. They try to hide bad parts behind a wrapping or label - really annoying. Tossing food you just bought is infuriating. The prices are really high anyway making it even more of a rip off. Of course you can always go back and ask for a refund, we all know how fun that is.More

Stop in and get a Poke bowl! Very very tasty, reasonable prices, free samples. We all loved them. Great low budget food option for the area!

It may only be a grocery store, but they have the friendliest and most helpful employees. They have great local produce, fresh meats and an amazing selection of deserts. Don't know what to make for dinner or looking for something new, the employees will gladly...give advice on how to make almost any local food.More

It's a great little market to get all the essentials. They had everything we needed for the couple of days we were staying in the area. The cashier was really nice and she even knew the local guy that was checking out in front of...us. It's a small community where everybody knows each other.More

We picked up different things to bring back for dinner both nights to eat on our lanai. Very well stocked market with a great selection of every thing you might need or want.
