Perfect place for late night dining, we stopted in here offten on the way to our air BnB across the street. A very creative kitchen serving sushi, noodles, ramen and other delightful Japanese dishes.
Love the Spicy Kanpai Ramen, goes great with an icy cold...Kirin Ichiban beer, although thier cocktails are quite good. So, tried them too, while picking at salty edamame and waiting for my cold soba noodle dish to arrive.
The service is fast and you get what you order, the staff always seem to have a smile on their faces.
There is also a private karaoke room, but we never tried it, as the house music was enough for us.
TIP: Be adventurous, try something new, you won’t be disappointed, everything is healthy.More
The Ramen at this place was so fantastic I couldn’t bear the thought of leaving any in my bowl. I ate so much I had to slow walk to my car because of all the sloshing. Our server was fantastic. You can bet I will...be back there as soon as I can.More
Very good restaurant: Comfortable interior; fast and efficient service (at the end it felt a bit rushed); food was quite tasty (very good ramen, though not excellent; good ahi nigiri; tamago nigiri disappointed a little); price quality ratio was quite good; they are open later...than most restaurants in Hilo which was quite welcome; I would return!More
My family had dinner here a few weeks ago and we loved it. We had originally been heading for a different restaurant based on reviews on another site, but we walking in and decided it wasn't quite as family-friendly as we were hoping for. No...such issues at Kanpai - we were seated immediately and our waiter was friendly and attentive.
My wife and I had ramen bowls and they were off-the-charts good! Our waiter informed us as we were ordering that the dinner portion is large enough to split so we did that - they brought out individual bowls for us with the ramen already divided so we didn't have to worry about that.
The kids had sushi and both give it the thumbs-up.
We did try one of the special maki rolls and the only feedback I'd suggest to the restaurant is to perhaps cut down on the amount of house-smoked bacon? At least for the roll we had we thought that the flavor of the bacon was strong/intense enough that it overwhelmed the rest of the flavors. A minor quibble!More
The female service person that we had was unbelievably rude; must have been having a bad day; kept coming back and continued to insult us; I don’t get it. Hard to understand why a hospitality service person act this way. There are two other very...good restaurants on the same street close by; continue walking.More
