This little restaurant, set in a strip mall serves some of the best pita bread sandwiches we have ever had. You get to watch the owner hand cut all of the veggies so you know the food is excellent. We had the gyro pita and...we also had the homemade baklava. Only problem here is parking. There is none. We were able to sweet talk the guard at the Ben Franklin into letting us park there. Promise her you will bring her back a sandwich.More

Don't eat here unless you wish you be treated rudely and get ripped off in both quality of food and price after ordering. We were given stink eye by the female waitress and when we received our wrap, it had absolutely no filling. Price was...$2 more than advertised...bad karma to The Oasis. No way to run business in Hilo.More

I stumbled across this cafe on our first day in Hilo after a long flight from Australia (transferring at Honolulu) . My family was very tired and I told them to stay our B&B while I went searching for lunch. The owner was sooo friendly...and helped me to chill out after the long flight. She gave me a cold drink and also one to take back for my daughter after I told her that there were alot of tears going on back at the B&B. She packed our meals for us to take out. The food was delicious. The meat was very good quality. We had the lamb, beef and falafel with pita bread combinations that the owner recommended. I was too tired to think and she took charge when I told her what our tastes were like. I totally recommend this place for a meal. It's close to the Foodland.More

Café Oasis is the perfect spot to go if you want to escape the blazing mid-day tropical sun and enjoy a delicious lunch! A small café (only 5 tables!) but bright and cheery, with interesting wall mural art and décor. Plenty of books and newspapers...scatter around for guest to peruse at leisure. Beautiful Middle Eastern music plays on the stereo. Chef owner Ilana is a friendly and funny lady, she loves chatting with guests while preparing the food. The menu boasts excellent selection of pita/flatbread sandwiches, wraps and salads. Most are vegetarian, but Ilana also makes several meat dishes featuring Big Island grass feed beef and organic lamb. Try the Oasis Sampler Plate ($10) which comes with baked falafel balls, tzaziki (Greek yogurt with cucumber and herbs), baba ganoush (mashed eggplant with olive oil), tabouli salad, hummus, and warm pita bread. Or try the My Big Fat Greek Sampler Plate ($10) which includes a large serving of melt-in-your-mouth roasted lamb, dolmas (stuffed grape leaves), tzaziki, beet salad with feta cheese, and more pita bread. Big, generous portions, fun to share these sampler plates with others at your table! Gluten free diet? No worry, you can substitute pita bread with more salad. For dessert, try the baklava with honey and almond, it’s divine! Also don’t miss the cool, refreshing, thirst-quenching Spiced Ice Coffee or Mint Ice Tea ($2 each). We like to go to Oasis Café for lunch after shopping at the nearby Hilo Farmers Market. We love the peaceful atmosphere, the affordable, healthy, tasty Mediterranean food, and the warm Aloha spirit of owner Ilana. Highly recommended. LGBTQ visitors welcome.More
