My partner and I absolutely love this restaurant. The food is excellent. It's a little pricey, but I think it's definitely worth it. Their service is a bit slow. I recommend making reservations ahead of time because the place is pretty popular. We don't get to treat ourselves often enough, but when we do...this restaurant is always at the top... More

Cafe Pesto is one of our favorite go-to places to eat in Hilo. Normally the food is prepared well and good local ingredients are used. But, we found ourselves going in for a late lunch or very early dinner three or four times in the last couple of months and could not have been more unhappy. Our waitress was gracious... More

We were expecting something more casual having the word "cafe" in the title. Not that it was bad, it had a nice atmosphere. The staff was attentive to clearing dirty plates from our table however our waiter tended to be a little on the slow side. Casual shorts & flip flops are definitely ok. A wide selection of thin crust... More

A wonderful spot for lunch after a days' visit to The Hawaiian Botanical Gardens. Friendly staff, great food and a fun ambiance. The first time I dined here I had one of the most delicious pizzas I have ever eaten- the artichoke, mushroom, gorgonzola pizza. Delicious! Returned a week later with our young family and had a wonderful mushroom pasta... More

This restaurant has the best selection of mainland food - pizza, pasta, salad, seafood, chicken and beef. Reasonable prices but a cloth napkin place. Very professional and friendly. Music entertainment was a very nice background. We had the pizza and it was some of the best home made pizza I've ever eaten. We'll eat there again.

Cafe Pesto is my go-to place when I come to Hilo Town from Puna shores. Consider where else you would get a Greek Pasta Salad graced with an orchid? Or a chocolate cake delicately adorned with whipped cream hibiscus flowers? The entrees are exceptional whether the intriguing Sandalwood Sandwich or a catch of the day. The service is exceptional and... More

Pretty good place and food is good, but the portions have really shrunk. Fresh fish entrees were more like a half portion. Was better last time we visited 3 years ago.

We spent a wonderful day exploring this wonderful island. After a trip from Kona over to the Hilo side to visit Akaka Falls and the volcanoes, hiking and watching the magnificent volcano eruption at sunset, we headed over to Cafe Pesto. We met a family from Hilo who also endorsed it as it was recommended by our concierge. It's a... More

My wife and I had not been to the Big Island in roughly twenty years, and so unlike Kauai where we know the restaurants quite well, we were at the mercy of online reviews when choosing restaurants. As the saying goes, you win some and you lose some. Perhaps that is too strong a statement. The food at Café Pesto... More
