I love the good here but would like smaller portions if you are a visitor you don't want to drag all this food around and feel bad throwing it away great service though and good food

We went to this Cafe twice during our stay. We ate supper the first night, having traditional hawaiian dishes our waitress suggested and second time for breakfast! Both times were great, never had to wait to long to be seated, food arrived quickly. Only thing we didn't like was Poi (the hawaiian potato purple soup type dish). Everything else was... More

A friend recommended that we dine here while visiting Hilo; we were not disappointed! I had the Wailoa Bowl, furikake rice, garlic jumbo shrimps, garlic chicken, and ahi poke. Mom had a Caesar Salad and others had a Kalbi Plate. Portions are gi-normous, so recommend you split it and share, or come with a healthy appetite! The clincher is the... More

This is a diner-style restaurant where the clientele is is primarily local residents. Their menu is broad and diverse with lots of local dishes. At dinnertime, I ordered am amazing version of Loco Moco that was really outstanding. Dubbed the "Moco-saurus", it had kalua pork, katsu chicken, a gravy-covered hamburger, spam, two fried eggs all on a huge bed of... More

This is the place if you're looking for local breakfast. It is located just a few minutes from downtown Hilo. The restaurant is clean and airy. We were warmly greeted and accompanied to our table. Our breakfast- grilled pork chops & eggs and corned beef hash, eggs & fried rice. The orders come with choice of sides. We chose whole... More

A vendor at the Hilo Farmers Market told me about this place: good local food. Arriving at noon, there was a lineup to get in. Local folk, office workers, truckers and families. They all tended to be .....large people. Great warm welcome and I got a table quick as I was solo. Nice waitress who had suggestions when I asked... More

Very local style friendly staff. Huge portions, I always get 2 meals out of one order. Open for breakfast and lunch but closed for couple hours before reopening for dinner. Very popular so there is often a wait. Not fancy but good.

The portions are huge, but for me the food was just okay. If you like massive pancakes this is probable the place for you.

It took three attempts to finally get in at Hawaiian Style Cafe. I get it, the servings are HUGE, the prices are small and the food is good. It didn't rank on my list of favorites but I understand the draw with the big servings and little prices. The service was good but like all of Hawaii, Aloha rules.
