I grew up in this area and my family and friends ate at the White Stag frequently. I was delighted to see, when I recently visited from out of state, that this place has not changed either its menu or its decor in fifty years. Dependable, flame-grilled steaks, chicken or chops, baked potato and iceberg lettuce wedges -- just as... More

We have been here many times and most recently last weekend after a 5 year hiatus (we just haven't been in the area). We were part of a group of 12 and arrived around 5:30. We got our name in and were able to be seated shortly after getting our round of drinks--this is much faster than we expected, especially... More

The people behind the bar seemed way too busy to be bothered with any of the customers; it didn't look that busy. The servers dismissive attitude seemed to indicate that we were an inconvenience to her. The food was mediocre for any price. The way we were greeted really set the tone for the night. Crappy service is the kiss... More

This place has long-time great reputation. My first visit; hubby has been here before. Entrance has few steps for mobility-limited folks. (can't remember any). ... Good service; drinks were served promptly; lettuce wedge salad was a surprise; but we loved their house dressing of "spicy french"; there were 2 other adventurous house dressings too. I ordered the smoked pork chops;... More

Drive several miles into the woods and you'll find the White Stag Inn. Located some miles north of Rhinelander, it's a most unlikely location to find such a fine restaurant. The interior brings back the "supper club" ambiance and the menu confirms it. Steaks, chicken and all done on a grill visible from your table. Busy with summer tourists, but... More

I've been driving by this place for 40 years and never stopped. Well the timing was right and we stopped in. What a treat! Good drinks ( crabby bartender see photo), good food and lots of it. Priced right. Will definitely stop again.

One of our favourite places to eat. So far, have liked everything we have tried. Husband likes steak and I like fish.

I have been to the White Stag at least 4 times. However, this is my first review. Not the place for you if your in a hurry. Great food. I have never had a bad meal. Drinks have always been made as specified. If you hit the White Stag at a busy time try to relax as service tends to... More

I am from new york area east coast and not use to Midwest dining. My wife is from Rhinelander so she is familiar with this place and brought me there. The lettuce is nothing i have seen before, chopped in 4 big chunks, nice fresh and crispy. the food is very good. I will definitely go again.
