My family of five (kids 16 - 22) stopped in over the holidays after ice skating downtown. The place is very small but the food was delicious. The staff was very accommodating as they rearranged a table along the bar to seat my family for a late dinner. It didn't look like much from the outside but was great inside.... More

Wanted to eat hear after reading reviews on TA and as luck would have it, the restaurant turned out to be around the corner from our hotel (the beautiful Hilton Garden Inn). I got the blackened chicken with avocado and bacon sandwich with the oft-mentioned vermouth carrots. The sandwich was one of the best sandwiches I've had but I was... More

As we walked through the door at 6:45 pm, we thought we might have a bit of a wait. Swingin' Door does not take reservations. To our surprise we were ushered almost immediately to a table in the back. We all ordered drinks. Two of our group ordered old fashions and another ordered ginger beer. I ordered a gin drink... Dined here recently on a Friday for lunch. Traditional Wisconsin Fish Fry was excellent. I had the lake perch and my partner had the cod; both were excellent. Sides were fries, onion strings and coleslaw and all were delicious. We have had lunch here a couple of times in years past, sandwiches and soups were first rate. My partner has... More

We almost missed the building, then had second thoughts when we found it. Glad we want in. The bar was packed but we were able to get a small table and were served food even though the kitchen was about to close. The sandwiches were delicious, the beer was cold, great little place! I'll go again for sure!

Good food, reasonable prices, attentive service. No kids menu, but children are welcome. Building is under construction, but you can still go in - and it will be to your advantage - you can eat without the typical hour wait.

Stopped in here for dinner and beer while in Milwaukee. The outside of this place is not attractive, especially so at the moment with all the scaffolding around the building, it is easy to pass this place by. Once inside I loved the feel of this place, it was busy and we had just managed to grab the last table,... More

Went here for lunch with a couple of locals. Ambiance is of a relaxed, neighborhood bar (and maybe that's what it is?). But the food is interesting, fresh, tasty comfort food. They were offering a choice of hot dogs (chili, barbecue, etc) for the special and I want with that. Sounds simple, but the food was truly great, right down... More

Cool little bar to grab some food and have drinks with friends. Really small place, so it gets packed sometimes.
