New ownership has caused a terrible decline in food and service. We ordered four dishes for four people, the Mongolian beef, pork and pea pods, and chicken cashew; all tasted the same and shared the same dark foreboding sauce. The cashew chicken was made with peanuts, and the sweet and sour shrimp had more breaking than shrimp. I would not... More

We have tried many times over the years to give them another chance. The food is average, at best. Little imagination in their preparation and sometimes no seasonings at all. They are the only game in town, so everyone goes back hoping for improvement. Too bad. ;(

We had dinner here last night and enjoyed most of the dishes we ordered. The Barbecued Pork appetizer was average but a little dry. The hot and sour soup was very good. We also had the Sweet and Sour Chicken which was not so good as the breading on the chicken overwhelmed the small (tiny) pieces of chicken and the... More

I come to Joy Luck on occasion when I'm close to Kingston and looking for Chinese. I like their broccoli beef and their almond fried chicken. The restaurant is usually really quiet when I've gone in for dinner so it makes a great choice when I'm looking to escape for an hour or two.

I'm kind of picky about Chinese food. Most Chinese restaurants are terrible, few pass my Mongolian beef and hot & sour soup tests. This place was unique in that I didn't hate it yet I didn't love it either. There was NO heat at all to the hot dishes (which is very disappointing as I like some kick). Why bother... More

I'm going to have to assume that the place has switched hands between the time a lot of these reviews were given and Sunday night when I ate there. We really didn't even want to based on such horrible feedback but both other Asian food places were closed so we just went for it. My son and I split a... More

I didn't care much for this place at first, but the food there now is pretty good. The fried rice dishes, egg foo young, mapo tofu, chop suey are all well prepared. You won't find anything exotic here in the way of spices or ingredients, but the dishes are tasty. The restaurant itself is small, so not a great place... More

Last night I just did not feel like cooking, so ordered "Chinese Takeout" from our local restaurant. I have always gotten tasty, edible food here in the past. Last night the Prawns with Snow Peas tasted good, but a couple of the snow peas had big black spots on them. That tells me that they are not too fresh. Got... More

Joy Luck serves basic Chinese offerings with friendly and attentive service. A great neighborhood restaurant. They always remember you.

Normal and tolerable Chinese fare. Some dishes are ok. It use to be good when before these owners took over.
