don't be fooled by the exterior of this restaurant. This is by far the best Chinese food in the Twin Cities. Not only is the food excellent, but it is plentiful in quantity. It is best to order from the "family" selection section and the more in your party the larger the number of dishes without the price going up.... More

The second our waitress saw my gluten free Tamari sauce on the table, I knew she understood my allergy problem. Good, fresh veggies and perfectly cooked sauteed chicken. Husband loved the Kung Pao chicken. Will visit again.

We really like this place and eat here often. Great service from friendly staff. The building is in need of a total remodel and cleaning. If the food wasn't so tasty we wouldn't go here because the decor is unappealing and dirty. We like the pork fried rice, sesame chicken, general tso's chicken and several others.

Stopped here with some friends. Had fried sweet and sour shrimp and almond chicken with fried rice. I've never heard of Lima beans in Chinese food. It was fair food. Place needs updated. The breaking on the shrimp was weird and grainy tasting.

This little place doesn't look like much from the outside. A very non-descript building and the sign is faded. But don't be put off. Inside is nice and the food is excellent. It apparently has been in operation since 1929 and only changed owners once in the early 1990's. Booths are family size and easily accommodate six adults. The menu... More

Not a great first impression. Could use a lot of sprucing up on the outside and the inside need remodeling. Old and a wee bit dirty. The menu is huge. Too big really, Our group of 11 overwhelmed the kitchen and the food came out very staggered. The lunch specials are $5.95 and everyone took food home. The entrees came with... More

We live not too far away. The Shanghai Café has been in Centralia for many years, and we've gone there or dinner several times. It's never been a bad experience. We've always had plenty of hot and filling food. However, it has never been better than average. In short, I can't really recommend the Shanghai Café unless the other Chinese... More

My family has been coming to the Shanghai Cafe for Chinese food since I can remember. I think, at first, it was just because they were close. Then, after trying other places, we realized it's because the food is fabulous! I've lived in other states and have had the chance to try other restaurants, only to be disappointed. After having... I am not a big fan of Chinese food and prefer Thai but went here with some family members who live in Centralia and said that the food was good. I really enjoy ethnic foods and will try just about anything so I am not a picky eater but this food was terrible, bland, dry, overcooked, and in some cases... More
