Reviewed yesterday

My husband and I were looking for a place to have dinner after driving hours to reach Williamsburg. We were pleasantly surprised to find the tavern within walking distance of our hotel. The staff was very friendly and the food was excellent.

We elected the quick outdoor setting. The service was just ok and the food not quite. Would seek something else. Sitting outside on a nice fall day was the best part.

We ate at this restaurant once for supper and again for just a drink. The service was extremely fast and the sparkling apple cider was surprisingly good. The food was good and the establishment has the best value in the Colonial Williamsburg proper. This is...More

The food was good, but I liked it because of the building. It really did feel like being in the past. The servers were dressed historically, too.

The sampler was a good size for me and my friend to share at lunch. The meat pasty was very good, but the chutney they put with it is to die for! So good and nice atmosphere, great waitress!

Most reasonable of the Colonial Williamsburg taverns. Usually good service and good food. I actually prefer it to King's Arms and Shields. Miss the balladeers. Made the experience less than what it has been. Oh well.

This place is nice, you back to old times, the ales testing are very good, the food was good... a little expensive for the size of the food.

Great lunch in one of the only places to eat on the tour. 30 minute wait, worth it though. Large group & they were very accommodating. Shared the basket of home made chips which came with 3 dipping sauces. Excellent. Had the Cob Salad with...More

The food and service were both enjoyable. The soup sampler was superb; the pulled Virginia Pork sandwich (with a combination of vinegar and ketchup-based sauces) was very tasty - hint of smoke, and flavor explosions!

I suggest you direct your question to the venue where you purchased your special event ticket. I only dine at Chownings at regular dining, not special events. No idea what the menu will be.
