Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stumbled on this English pub meets French brasserie and were delighted with the food, music and most importantly warm welcome. Family of 6, we tried various salads, burger, steak, croquette, beer and all were lovely. Reasonable price too. Strongly recommend this local place rather than the more touristy restaurants on the Main Street.

We arrived in Edam late afternoon and picked this place as one of the only few open for dinner. The small terrace is on a narrow street but a good place to watch the world go by. I had been struggling to find savoury pancakes in Dutch restaurants and I ordered one which turned out to be reasonably good.

We really enjoyed our lunch here. The waitress was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed delicious sandwiches with local cheese. Our kids loved the chicken and chips. Ample portions. Great beer selection and the Jillz cider was excellent.

The food was cheap but tasty 'lekker', friendly atmosphere and staff. Music was excellent, beer and wine reasonably priced as well.

Stopped by to sit on their inviting bench outside for a bit of a rest and an afternoon cocktail. Cute place reasonable price for drinks. Inside cute pub with pool table and I believe dart board. Clean restroom, tiny but clean. Looked like they were moving pool table out when we were leaving and clearing out tables and chairs inside unsure what they were preparing for. They were setting up outside seating on small side street and it looked like it may have had a back area.

There are bigger places in Edam and more upmarket bars and restaurants but this is very much a locals watering hole, Interesting low lighting , friendly staff and a decent range of beers. Lively conversations around the billiard table (the worlds least interesting game - the winner is the last one to lose the will to live) and well worth finding

I went for the traditional Dutch pea soup and we all had mature Gouda rolls, and the presentation really was just two bits of cheese between an unbuttered roll, with a dollop of undressed salad. Not much of an effort! It was ok but really nothing special. Only took Dutch cards, too.

Just up the street from the Kaasmarkt, lovely service (the girls are great). Really busy during the Kaasmarkt but a nice place to visit anyway.

We were doing a day trip in Waterland and found this place in Edam. We sat outside and enjoyed a tasty and reasonably priced lunch. Friendly wait staff and good food.

I went out to Edam for an evening out of Amsterdam. Arriving at 7, it was very peaceful with few tourists. I initially heard about it in my Rick Steves travel book--he was right again! I was able to sit outside and people-watch. The fresh fried fish was so delicious. A good no-frills meal with friendly service.

I went searching for something different. I was a little tired of the same old food on my trip. I saw a sign that said "Real Dutch Pea Soup". I didn't even know the Dutch ate pea soup. It was delicious. The service was excellent and the music was great. Check it out!

Great little bar in a quaint little town. Food was served and presented professionally, and the value was good...and the food was good. A straight good/good/good, but nothing about this place is exceptional.
