Diversity in breads and other desserts, but unfortunately expensive for this location, a real toerist pass-by, therefore the price

We stopped at this bakery during our early morning visit to Edam as it was one of the few places open on a Sunday morning. But we were glad we stopped as the cappuccino and the pastries were delightful. Great little spot.

We stopped in for a warm drink and ended up getting some fresh apple strudel also. The strudel was delicious and each serving was very generous. We really enjoyed our stop here including looking at all the candies and pastries in the cases. My only complaint is the communal towel provided in the restrooms for everyone to dry their hands on! Please replace that with some paper towels.

After a hot cycle ride we were looking to replenish our energy ... what a fantastic little oasis. The air-conditioning was a blessing after the heat of the day, but the cakes were what we really came for ! Wow - what a delicious selection they had on offer. We can recommend the mokka slices and the banana 'soes', but they have lovely cakes to suit most tastes.

I’ve been in the Netherlands several times and in beautiful Edam few times ; I can say this bakery does not meet the Dutch standards of bakery and hospitality. The strawberry tarts was not fresh! it was too hard. The sellers were surprisingly not so friendly and when we asked them to changed a not so clean glass, they refused and said all glasses are same…we got a straw instead! We didn’t understand this behaviour, a glass can be left not clean . Not a big deal right ?!!!!

Very arrogant staff at Mastenbroek. They need to be more polite towards their customers. I was told to leave their place even though my wife and friend ordered food. They have very strict policy and talking rude to me in front of other guests.

From our all amazing tip in the Netherlands this was by far the most disappointing experience. First of all ZERO intention to attend us Then no alternative milk options to lactose intolerants or allergics, we’ve asked for other options and the answer was NO, NO and NO We also ask for tap water and we were given 2 half full glasses (we were 3 people from the beginning) then we asked for more water and we were told we needed to PAY 1€ for each glass of tap water! We’re Europeans, we’ve been in The Netherlands a few times and this HAS NEVER EVER BEEN THE CASE, so my only thought as that they don’t like tourists as they also seem very kind to the locals. Won’t recommend it at all if you need an alternative milk or if you want to drink water, go next door instead

Rude staff, impolite wit foreigners. Wanted to charge 1€ for a glass of water after a full consumption (drinks+bakery) each for a party of 3 people. Unkind customer service.

Great coffee and even better cake. Service with a smile. Only complaint is that there are too many cakes to choose from, makes life really difficult. Excellent

This bakery is quintessential Dutch, with lovely pastries and a very helpful staff. This stop was early in the morning before the cheese market opened. We both had the ham and cheese croissant, they warmed it up for us, and it was lovely. I also bought 2 of the windmill chocolates, scrumptious! Before we left I purchased a tray of their sweet, small cookies to bring back to Amsterdam. They were delicate so I transported them with care, and wow are they melt in your mouth, flaky, and super good! I’d stop in there again next time I’m in Edam!

Great coffee and selection of cakes and ice cream. Friendly staff and prompt table service, nice break from the bustling cheese market.

Lovely ice cream, plenty of flavors including panna cotta, salted caramel and many others in delicious home made waffle cones. Pastries looked nice but we didn’t try them.

Nice place and the apple pie is really good. The only drawback they don't accept VISA. The most beautiful time to visit is a quiet sunny afternoon.

Nice coffee (latte macchiato) and a classic Dutch style ham and cheese toastie. 2 ice creams were good from a selection of around 16. All the classics. Good for a nice stop in comfortable chairs inside or a canal view outside. Recommended for all esp when you have two teens!

On a hot day in Edam we ventured in here as soon as we arrived @10.30am. Friendly helpful staff who understood English. Great coffee "Segafredo" and cakes were delicious. The hazelnut meringue was delicate and light with a deliciously hazelnut taste. Hubby had the advokaat cake again he said deliciously light and tasty.
