Well. I hadn't been here in 5 or 6 years and I live a mere 20 minutes away. Used to be another family style long John silver sit-down type fare with mostly fried breaded stuff or tasteless broiled stuff. I just heard that they were...recently under new management and had turned this place into something of a sports bar with ample new seafood offerings. Had to give it a try. I was impressed. We sat in the bar area in a booth. Bunches of flatscreen TVs with mostly sports channels. One CMT channel and a local channel. Dark, but cozy. Booths had padded seats. Initially we were seated in an adjacent dining area where the booth seating was cold and unpadded. Not good. We asked to be moved to the bar area. We ordered a salad (huge) and I had the blackened catfish and shrimp platter. My wife had the broiled seafood platter. Portions were large, except for the catfish; it was about half a filet. Must have been 50 small hushpuppies on each plate. A bit of overkill, I thought. Flavor was good and very filling. Drinks were Pinot Prigio and Sangria. Bartender and waitress were very accommodating and cordial. No room for dessert. Place closes at 8 o'clock though. We eat late. Nice decorations and three separate eating areas. We will definitely give this place another visit.More

This place is perfect for a family Sunday dinner. They have a little of something for everyone. The breading is amazing and the proportions are out of this world you will not leave hungry, with left over but not a bit hungry.

Fishtales serves the biggest and best chicken tenders EVER. The honey mustard sauce is out of this world. I choose the baked potato, it was big,hot and superb. My other side was cole slaw. The cole slaw was very good. My order was four chicken...tenders. After ordering and beginning to eat I ordered the remainder of their 9 piece chicken tender dinner. Upon entering I asked if they sold the chicken tenders to go. They said yes and it was 30 or 50. I explained I did not need that many and the waitess said that was the smallest quantity of tenders they served to go. I had eaten at their similar restaurant in Bristol but it closed several years ago. I will definitely go back the first chance I get. Excellent food, good service and they serve Coke products. I give Fishtales a 12 on the rating of 1 to 10.More

Amazing food she let me substitute the clams for shrimp and that made my meal perfect. Hushpuppies are the best ever and everything else was delicious.

Our family love going to Fishtales, either to eat in or carry out. Always, friendly staff as well. We always order the chicken with little hush puppies and baked potatoes and sometimes crab legs. They also give you plenty of sauces to use. Thank you...Fishtales! Great job and food.More

I grew up going to this restaurant as a child and have many good memories of it. One thing that really drew me into it was the fried oysters they had. On account of this, I decided to take my family there from our eastern...Kentucky homestead on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Upon getting our seat, we were then greeted by a server and ordered our dinners, mine of which I ordered a side of fried oysters. After approximately 15 minutes, our food was delivered, all except for the oysters, in which I was told was on the way. After only a bite or two, I was approached by a middle aged bleached-blonde woman who told me she was the manager. She then informed me that I could not get oysters on the side, but only as a dinner. I took this as a surprise seeing as I had specifically asked the server if I could order them like this. I proceeded to take the manager away to the side (really the front door because of the small restaurant size) and explained to her that we had drove 45 minutes, and had specifically asked if I could get oysters on the side, seeing as that was the main reason we came, and we were told yes. She then told me that the server was new and had made a mistake. I asked why I had not been told this before my meal arrived and why she was the specific person whom told me my oysters would be out shortly instead of just telling me this then. She was dumbfounded on words and continued to try to sell me an extra dinner, on top of the fried sampler platter and crab legs I had already ordered. Excruciated by this time at this woman, I told her since I had brought my family (Parents, brother, girlfriend) for a dinner, I would pay for theirs but I was not going to eat mine nor pay for it she could call the police if she needed. Instead of doing like a normal business would, she removed the dinner from my table and took it straight to the back in which I have no clue what happened to it afterwards. Seeing as though I had the sampler platter, crab legs and crab cakes and was above $40 for just my meal already, to me this seemed a very bad business decision, considering it could had simple been fixed with a simple side of oysters, unless they salvaged them on the next people whom ordered this. I am basing my review on this simple experience that should had never happened and could have easily been avoided. The customer is always right, huh?More
