About
Aroma Café & Secret Garden is a truly unique restaurant on the Costa del Sol. Firstly the restaurant is located in an old house dating to 1872 with many nooks and crannies to discover. Within its walls a whole world opens, starting with arguably Mijas´ most beautiful Andaluz Patio. Follow the Patio to its end and let a whitewashed passage guide you to our gem on the crown, the Secret Garden. Here you will find Mijas as it was a century ago, an enchanted forest of olive, orange, fig and loquat trees. Stroll to the end of this sprawling garden and you will discover an ancient ´water mine´ dating back to the Moorish times. In our garden you will enjoy Argentinean BBQ prepared right before your

Arrived sat in a sunny area. After looking at menu a guy with hair tied up started blurting at us we had to move. Very rude. Then later another group of individuals sat in the sunny area. Was outrageous and only said sorry out of...necessity as we passed him. Poor customer interaction skills. Food was okay but won’t go backMore

We decided to have lunch at Aroma on the 12th May and enjoyed it so much we went back for dinner on the 13th May. Both times the service was very good, all of the meals were cooked to perfection and all 5 of us...were very impressed. The garden is stunning! I would definitely go back when I'm next in Mijas.More

We visited here this evening on a recommendation so had not viewed the reviews beforehand. The setting is pretty and unexpected for Mijas, the restaurant at the front looks empty but all are out the back in the secret garden. As you walk through the...indoor restaurant it is tired and appears grubby….. however you quickly forget this as you enter the garden. The service was ok, not good but nothing particularly to give it a bad review….. just average. Staff were pleasant enough. Food took quite a long time to arrive and it was pretty quiet so wouldn’t want to visit at the height of the season. I had the chicken skewer priced at €16 and it was 4 inch squares of chicken and some bits of pepper with a side of veg. Tasted great but overpriced for the amount of food. Thankfully I wasn’t overly hungry. My husband ordered a medium to well done tenderloin steak at €26….. with a baked potato and peppercorn sauce. It was medium at best (more on the medium rare side) and was very disappointing for the price. The baked potato was hard and dry and the steak was fatty in places. We asked for the bill and eventually got fed up if waiting and walked up to pay. Overall a pretty poor experience which we won’t be repeating. Save your money and go elsewhere.More

We went for a meal for my birthday in the evening. I had chicken skewer and husband had steak both delicious. The setting is so charming when you see the sign outside and not many people out front of restaurant you may think it strange...- but all the action in the garden BBQ bar etc. Just go in. We will definately be back. The staff are superb.More

We had visited the secret garden many times and we were expecting a great return. Sadly it wasn't. The place seems to have gotten grotty. We ordered steak and it tasted very weird. I asked for salt and waited about 20 minutes for it to...arrive. The apple cake for dessert was partially frozen. Very disappointing, will not be returning.More

Went hear on recommendation of my parents who had visited several times previously. A lovely setting in a pretty garden. Sadly spoilt by the fact that my 10 year old was served breaded chicken which was raw in the middle. It wasn't until he had...eaten several mouthfuls that my husband noticed that the middle of the chicken was raw and uncooked. This made my son feel immediately ill at the thought and left my husband and I worried for the rest of the day that we were going to have the rest of our holiday ruined by food poisoning. Fortunately this was not the case, however it could have easily gone the other way. The cost of the meal (which my son had v little of) was deducted from the bill and apologies received however, correctly cooking chicken is v basic and I was shocked to see that we aren't the first to experience this issue at this restaurant. It is a beautiful setting but if you go I strongly recommend not ordering chicken and if you do, cut through the middle to check it's fully cooked.More

This was always one of our favourite restuarants and when we had a special family meal it was our first choice last night. What a bad decision that turned out to be. This place has certainly plummeted and is not helped by a manager with...a coundn't care less attitude. My brother and I were served a mixed grill for two which was some of the worst meat (fat actually) I've seen. Actullay one of the pieces of meat had a weird taste - we left it! The waittress asked us how our food was and whenI told her it was poor she went to see the manager. He never came over and then when we asked for the bill, I went to see him saying I was unhappy, he just shrugged his shoulders and said goodbye. I gather that they have had a lot of staffing problems, but we wont be back. There are so many good restaurants in the village, this one wont be missed. Interesting that there are many bad reviews, but the staff never respond. Maybe it confirms they really dont care.More

First and last time here. Recommended by the owner while staying in his apartments. (Another story) The restaurant is dirty, the toilets haven't been cleaned in a very long time and some of the staff are miserable. We ordered the chicken kebabs and they were...served to us raw. My husband had to send them back again before it was safe to eat. Don't waste your money. Beautiful friendly restaurant is Tomillo Limon. Beautiful food and appreciative staff. Go there instead.More

Steaks were perfectly cooked with the most amazing peppercorn sauce along with their baked potato. Will definitely return when back in Mijas, lovely staff with lovely location.

Called in 2.30 Friday afternoon. Wanted a bottle of wine for two in the garden. Not many customers about but was told it was only possible to sit in the garden if ordering food! Will not be going back .
