I traveled to Norfolk to attend a surprise Birthday Party for a friend... had never been here before, and was presently pleased with the facility.. plentiful parking and the old Abbey is beautiful... the surrounding area is a bit dicey but it's downtown Norfolk... The wait staff was friendly and the food was very good... We had a great time... More

The setting itself was delicious...an old, old beautiful church turned into a restaurant! The food couldn't have been any better...the salmon was cooked to perfection as was the asparagus and potatoes. The gluten-free chocolate torte...was the best I have EVER had...and ask for the raspberry sorbet to go with it even though it isn't listed on the menu. The waitstaff... More

It was visually interesting. I mean wow! They did have high chairs for kids. The drinks were good. The price was good with the groupon discount. Our food was OK. Steak and some type of gamey meat. Our daughter's chicken tenders meal was great.

So glad we checked Trip Advisor for an alternate place for this Anniversary favorite. Being too far from our usual haunts we took a risk and were not dissappointed. The creaminess, amount of crab and the touch of sherry worked for us! Will be back if within 50 miles again.

4th time at the Abbey within the past few years. Mainly went for the She Crab Soup and Freemason ' salad. The soup is still very good but the salad dressing has lost my interest. It was made In House but this was very watered down and tastless. Everything else we tried was also good. The decor is very warm.... More

Wide variety of choices from chicken and steak to kangaroo. My wife is picky and was able to find something that she liked. Service was friendly with a great atmosphere.

Enjoyed the history of the Abbey and the food was excellent; especially the cheesecake! This was a wonderful recommendation by Debra Wilborn, proprietor of the Page House Inn!

My all-time favorite dinner at Freemason Abbey is a bowl of their amazing She-Crab Soup with a spinach salad and nice cocktail. The soup is even better than Mom's... rich and creamy with big lumps of crab meat and a sprinkle of spice. You can even buy it by the quart to take home. The restaurant itself, housed in an... More

A restaurant in a church? I'll take a table for 2 at 6 please! This place is definitely something different, not your average wine and dine. Our server was very helpful, attentive and had great insight on many menu food and drink choices. We were both satisfied with our meal and very very VERY satisfied with the home made sangria.... We visit every year while in the area with friends. This year will have to say improvement over last year which seemed to be off year for them. We had same server as last year and she was much better this year and the prime rib much improved over last year's. Overall glad we understood everyone has off times and... More
