Long wait to be served . Longer wait to get our order 40 mins. Gave up looking for a dessert. Would have bought more if someone would wait the tables. Even had to wait 10 mins to pay the bill. Really disappointing as the food...when we eventually got it was good. No management of table service here I am afraid.More
Lounge staff are nice and friendly but some of the bar staff act like they’re paid to hate you. The bouncer on the door might be the rudest person I have ever met and will use any opportunity to swear at and threaten you. It’s...a shame as it is a nice pub and the food is lovely but there is a reason it is losing business to the nearby pubs who are far more welcoming.More
As a pub it’s the nicest in clondalkin and the food is great but some of the staff are just horrible people, the bouncer jules I think is his name has to be the most horrible person ive ever come across, a group of us...were threatened and cursed at for absolutely no reason by him and anyone I’ve spoke to about it says he is the only reason they don’t go to the laurels, such a shame the place would be right up there with the best and he is causing the place to lose businessMore
Decided to eat here on recently, hoping it had improved in some way since I was last here in summer 2020. It hasn't. Chicken curry was obviously microwaved as it was very dry, with the rice stuck together and it was piping hot for a...good 10 minutes after I got it. I then ordered a pint of Budweiser, which had a funny taste, so I decided to bring it to the barman's (was later told his name is Gav) attention. When I explained there was a funny taste he initially just walked away, another barman told me he had gone to get me another pint. He came back with a fresh pint, took my first pint from me and poured it down the sink, again not speaking to me,and put the 2nd pint in front of me. When I tasted the second pint I said there was still a funny taste, so he again just took the pint and poured it down the sink and then just walked away. The 2nd barman then offered me another drink, suggesting Heineken or Coors lite would be better as there aren't many Budweiser drinkers in the pub and that might result in the beer just sitting there and having a weird taste. The first barman (Gav) never once uttered a word to me during the whole interaction. He was beyond ignorant. This is not the first time I've witnessed the staff in this place treating people with disrespect but I won't be returning to be treated like that again. I'll also be telling anyone I know who still goes there to stay away.More
I recently attended a function in this pub. I phoned ahead to make sure it was accessible as I am a wheelchair user. I was told that there was a lift but it was removed 5 years ago and replaced with an area for customers....The frame is still there but the lift itself is removed. I had to be lifted up the stairs by 3 members of staff. The toilet is down a flight of stairs. The fire exit also has 3 steps out . I was very embarrassed having to be lifted in front of everyone in the venue. I also felt very unsafe. This shows a complete lack of respect and dignity for people with reduced mobility the elderly and also families with children in buggies.. In 2022 when the government is promoting equality for all it is unacceptable to discriminate against people with reduced mobility especially when there had been a lift and it was removed and no access to the toilets..More
Omg have to say I'm always on the prowl for delicious chicken wings and I've found my favourite 😍 the laurels chicken wings are amazing. Visited this bar while staying at the nearby Maldron Newlands Cross Hotel. (10 min walk away) The bar was very nice and traditional in style. The staff are a true asset, professional and friendly. The table service was very efficient and the food ordered was...enjoyed by all. Try the Guniness.. you won't be disappointed! Looking forward to visiting again if in the area again.More
Visited with friends, we had a booking and had plans to eat. We were first seated on some barrels as no tables were available. We were told to jump to the closest table when it because available (despite there being no cleaning between those people...leaving & us sitting). We were then told we could try and get drinks from one of the floor staff but that would take about half an hour. Then told it would be quicker to queue up inside and get bar service (also not allowed). Ended up waiting over 40 minutes for a drink. Best part was when we tried to order food, we were then told the kitchen was closed! All in all not an enjoyable experience, I get the impression that they pack out all available chairs & seats with no regard to how their staff can cope with this.More
Visited here recently with my family. Had been there pre covid numerous times and always enjoyed it. Now though it has really disimproved in my opinion. Made my booking a week previously but on arrival still had to wait for 15 minutes behind walk ins....The guy in charge was rushed off his feet and was visibly sniffling and suffering from a head cold. Not great at these times. The food menu is now quite small and has no vegetarian options on it. The guy who saw us to our table then eventually took our order and proceeded to sniffle over our table while we ordered. The food was very slow, service was very slow and all the staff seemed completely rushed off their feet and unable to cope. Lot of people there in grey tracksuit bottoms too. Not something I would have ever seen before. Hopefully the laurels will return to it's pre covid quality soonMore
Based on our visit tonight I have to say I am so disappointed with the laurels clondalkin. To be fair bar staff and waitresses were great but the food and food manager were not on point. We visited a few weeks ago and had steak...which was gorgeous, unfortunately this time it was anything but. Asked for medium and medium well, both came out the same..... RARE. Complained and another was on the table within 5 minutes, once again medium rare. Complained again and was told all they could do was cook another well done. Why should we have to order a steak to a liking we don't want because the chef is incompetent off cooking it right? And why would a food manager even suggest that? I ate my second steak even though medium rare as I was hungry, but my wife and child were unable to eat theirs as theirs stomachs were turned after the first steak. Also the amount of fat on the steaks was nearly half the total weight and when the second steaks were sent out we had to wait for cutlery and chips that did not come out with the food as it should have and we got Gravy instead of pepper sauce (shows the incompetence). Seemed like they were taking in to many walk ins and were rushing which = poor food. And by the way even though nearly full plates were sent back we were charged for the full bill even though staff knew we were unhappy. First picture is the fat cut of just two steaks. The second picture is the steaks that were sent out the second time and could not be eaten due to being rare a second time.More
Recently visited and was very impressed not only by the quality of food, drink and service but also compliance with COVID guidelines, had a great evening while feeling very safe, will definitely frequent again....... easy efficient booking system too
Evening Meal I recently had the pleasure of dining here for a meal. It was delicious. I had the wings to start followed by the most tenderest steak that I have enjoyed in a long time. I cannot recommend the laurels more highly than this...review. Paul CorkMore
Thanks Paul for a great review. Delighted you enjoyed your meal and visit with us. We look forward to welcoming you again.
Food is terrible and very bad customer service do not eat here!!! Place should be lucky to be still open
Enjoyed a great meal (bar menu) and watching the match with kids, wife and mother-in-law. Everyone had good food all washed down with coke, wine and Guinness!
