I'm always hesitant to give non-excellent reviews as I'm well aware that people's livelihoods are involved but I hope this is viewed as constructive rather than harsh. The garden dining room is very nice. The meal was mixed. Here we go.... It's OK to have...grilled meats served on large boards but there's a reason all the vegetables should be served separately - the wood takes all the heat out of the vegetables within 30 seconds. Everything on our boards; the sweet potato mash, the mushroom timbale, was cold. By the time we'd been eating it for two minutes it was very cold. It's such a shame as the mushrooms (if they had been warm) would have been lovely. The duck was nice, but again, cooled really quickly on the wood, The rocket salad was good but the green tomatoes were very hard indeed. The cheese was a disappointment. There were two types of unexceptional cheese. They appeared to have come straight from the fridge so had no taste at all. Whatever they were I would expect cold cheese in the UK but not in France. Lastly, we did say (in French) my wife was allergic to nuts and you made a note of it. We didn't expect to see a pile of chestnuts on the corner of the main course. Could do better.More

A bijou restaurant, the garden at the back is lovely with a relaxed atmosphere. The menu is varied but small and unfortunately two of the options, one on the starters and one on the mains were not available on the evening we visited. However, the...food is delicious. Some of our friends opted for the Pork which is a healthy sized portion, so if you are hungry……….. The wine menu is varied with good options and the service is efficient and friendly. Definitely worth a visit.More

We had the best dinner for ages at this lovely restaurant. It’s bigger than it looks from outside - it goes a long way back, with two “garden rooms” with full protection from the rain (just as well in August 2021!) but with vines etc...under a barely visible plastic roof giving a very pleasant “outdoor” ambience. The tables are plastic, with no cloths; which we always find a bit off-putting, but that was about the only criticism I could make. The food was absolutely superb, and very original. The menu is very small, 3 starters, 3 mains, I think 4/5 desserts. My wife and I both chose the same dishes. Our starter was a “crab panacotta”, which was a firm crab mix in the form of a panacotta still in its mould, with a large crab claw beside it, and a little salad, with some accompaniments that we think were miniature peppers. All delicious. Our main was cabillaut “mer et terre”, which was a generous piece of beautifully flaky cod, on a bed of vegetables (mainly broad beans) and chorizo, topped with a grilled oyster in foam. It was also absolutely delicious. I had a café gourmand to finish. Service was friendly and very efficient. We were sitting directly under a speaker for the slightly loud music, but at our request, instantly turned down. All in all, a lovely meal. We’ll be back.More

Do not miss the opportunity to dine here just because it isn’t on the waterfront at St Martin de Re. The menu is inventive, the quality excellent and the service professional without being pretentious. We have been coming here for years and have never been...disappointed (unlike many of the other restaurants we have tried in the town). Suitable for couples, families and small groups.More

In a town where many other restaurants treat visitors differently than locals, we felt very welcome and had a very pleasant dinner. The food is good, the service by the lady of the house was very professional.

We walked by and made a reservation for lunch (one hour later). Although we made a reservation and they were open, they did not allow our 3 yr old son to use their bathroom. Awful service and reason enough for us to cancel our reservation.

Very disappointing dinner. One vegetarian dish with cold rice, cucumber and melon and prawns despite specifcically mentioned that prawns should be excluded. Plate came back with prawns removed.... The pork dish was passable despite the uninspiring cherry tomatoes and lettuce. Didnt have desert...ambience was ok...but for the radio that was broadcastimg through loudspeakers, including ads..More

My second visit to this restaurant, the last was two years ago. Once again the food was excellent, matched by the service. French menus always sound delicious, but the translations are a let down. I really enjoyed all three courses, with my translation: Dwarf sweet...peppers, stuffed with chorizo creamed in ricotta, accompanied with roulé of Serrano ham and served with the chef’s sweet and sour sauce. Pork tenderloin (mignon) sourced patrie and grilled a la plancha, with sliced button mushrooms. Served with a split pea mash and a cider jus with biscuit. Goats cheese with chef’s chutney and a dressed leaf garnish. I would recommend this restaurant to any visitor. Well translated English can describe excellent food including the haute cuisine which is prepared so well at Côté Jardin.More

Book in advance as this restaurant is popular. We called in on the off-chance they had a free table but they were full so we booked for the following night. Good entrée - stuffed peppers - and equally good mains. Choice of half bottles of...wine got a tick from us. Enabled an aperitif each!More

I walked in on a Tuesday evening and was lucky to get one of the last tables. Friendly staff, and delicious food! The Gazpacho was refreshingly sweet and sour, the beef dish with just the right amount of spices (don’t forget to ask for fries,...as it just comes with bread) and the chocolate fondant was superb. Highly recommended! Try to book a table in the small inner courtyard/garden.More
