We had been to this restaurant last year and enjoyed our experience. This time started off ok. Our server was very nice and prompt, drinks were good. Then we got our starters but no plates to put them on. Next we got our food, again on time BUT the 24€ fish of the day came and it was tiny, the rice was dry with no taste and the vegetables were cold. When asked about the size of the fish we were told that’s normal?! Sadly, though the restaurant is only 5 min from our house we will not be going back.

We turned up at this restaurant after a 20 hours of travel. We were exhausted and just wanted to grab a quick bite and go to bed. We arrived at 6 and were told dinner service began at 7. There were 7 of us in the group and we decided to have a bottle or two of wine and wait for 7pm. We were seated at a large outdoor table. We had wine and a few nibbles (crackers/nuts). Almost at 7 on the dot our server came back and took our orders. The food was very good, especially for a beach bar and the prices were great for the food we ordered. It was a lovely evening and we were delighted to begin out stay at Ile de Re here.

We visited this beach bar twice, once for drinks and then a few days later to eat. Such a lovely setting and the staff were so lovely, so I can’t go by the other reviews just my own experience. We arrived for an early drink and the restaurant wasn’t open until 7pm but he came back with a focaccia which had sun dried tomatoes, cheese, ham and rocket. It was delicious. The rose is lovely especially when you’re sitting there watching the sunset.

We have been coming to Le Bois Plage for 9 years and we love it. The last few years the beach bar has got busier and busier and the food has been pretty decent but the service less great…..this year though they have renovated and we were looking forward to coming for drinks and fun the first night we were here. What a disaster. Where did they get the cocktail bartenders and staff from? Our cocktails were embarrassingly small and when we politely queried it with staff (in French) were made to feel that we were being completely unreasonable and were just plain rude to us. The team running it need to get a handle on the service here as the location is great but people don’t forget terrible service.

Bonjour, c'est vrai que pour certains le changement est effrayant ! Pour votre information, nous respectons les doses que nous ne manquons pas également de noter sur notre carte (si vous nous croyez pas faites une recherche sur Google et vous verrez que les doses sont les mêmes).
Quant à notre équipe, tous les goûts sont dans la nature et nous essayons de répondre à chaque question et demande malgré la forte affluence !
Mais il est vrai que si notre endroit est si terrible ainsi que notre équipe, nous vous invitons à trouver à trouver un endroit plus tranquille.

This used to be one of our favourite restaurants in La Bois Plage and we had been coming every year for drinks and snacks or pizza for nearly 20 years.
It’s had a complete makeover from an unpretentious beach bar to a high volume high priced neavaux establishment.
We ordered a steak tartar, which was basically a column of cold mince meat, which we mostly left except for the chips and also a shrimp linguine, which was luke warm, but the 2 huge shrimp were very nice. Left the linguine and ordered more fries as we were both still hungry. Maybe we’ll head up to the market and buy some chichis.
We’re in deep France and the only bottled beer they had on offer was Bud.
Avoid these choices or head to St Martin, where you’ll find better choices and value.
So so disappointed as this has been our worst experience in Ile de Re in over 20 years!!
We hope to be back to La Bois Plage again next year, but will be reluctant to come to the Beach Bar again, especially on our last night when our bikes are packed in the car for an early departure.
Went to pay the bill and chaos. Charged €6 for a 750ml bottle of tap water. Thankfully they took that off the bill.
Anyway…you’ve been warned.

there are so few beach side restaurants on the Ile De Re that the Beach Bar was a great addition. It was a charming bistro style place. Instead it has become an excessively noisy fast food/slow service place. will not be going back.

We visited the Beach Bar restaurant on a very wet Sunday lunchtime without a booking and with our dog. The staff were very helpful in finding us a table, getting water for the dog and generally providing exceptional service from the time we arrived to the time we departed. We only had pizzas for lunch but they were really tasty. We saw some of the other dishes go past us and the quality of the food looked really good. I suspect in the height of summer they get really booked up so would definitely suggest booking. Would have gone back to try dinner if we had had time to do so.

I absolutely do not recommend!!! I have never been so disappointed with a restaurant...
CAESAR salad: chicken tastes like rotten meat, the salad cooked, very soft decorated with a vulgar industrial raw sauce... Beef tartare: to be prepared on the plate. fat and nerves in it, meat tastes not great (we hope at least it was fresh... 😬). Low-end products for a +++ price

We chose this restaurant because of the setting which is very nice.
When we arrive, we find a large sign with what I would call a code of good conduct for the customer, in which we feel a certain passive aggression.
We are greeted by a very friendly young man who settles us at a table and brings us a child chair, so far nothing to say.
On the menu are two children's dishes (nuggets with fries or pizza margherita).

we had this place from the residents of the wood beach and we were surprised by the service and the food and tasty drinks. the cooking methods were perfect and very well seasoned. we enjoyed. It is definitely highly recommended. the view near the beach was very beautiful and the interior was also very nice and modern.

We ate here for lunch. Weather was amazing so the perfect place to eat. Staff were very quick, incredibly helpful , the young lady who translated the menu for us was wonderful and the whole experience was great. We’ll definitely be back.
