Wow where to start. They fixed us a table only 10min after sitting by the bar even though they were full when we came. Drinks came straight away and were so good. We tried the starter with corn tortilla and bean/chorizo, AMAZING. The sauces you get on the side were also delicious, with a variety of hot/sweet. And then to the maincourse, did not disappoint. I had burrito and my boyfriend tried the cheese-fondue with chorizo, tortilla and beansauce. It was all just so tasty. We left the restaurant so happy and glad we came there. Also want to say that the restaurant itself had such a cozy decor and the owners and other staff are probably the nicest people on the island. We could see them walking around and chatting/taking care of all the customers in the restaurant. Would go back if we had more time, strongly recommend!

The attention to detail and the plate presentations are that are a $20/entree restaurant. Prices are generally 200 to 300 baht or $6 to $10. The creator of the restaurant is Mexican although she no longer is there. The quality has been maintained. We had guacamole with chips and a variety of other sauces come with it. My wife had the fish tacos - very elegant - she did think the fish needed a little more salt. My veggie burrito was great. A seriously good Mexican restaurant in Ko Chang! Can't go wrong!

Living in Bangkok, I’ve come to have low expectations from Mexican food in Thailand (Chiangmai mai is another story mind you). But this is something special. Every dish is fresh and prepared such that you can tell they really spent time perfecting it. Friendly service too and food, cheap wine.

I am a huge fan of Mexican food and this is amazing keep coming back and back this is authentic and yummy. They also have a big selection of tequila and mezcals to make you happy after dinner mezcal is served in a cute coconut cup painted by Mexican artists. El Barrio is an experience. Will go back again and again.

Ambiente, Service and Food quality and taste are excellent. After many days enjoying the good thai kitchen we wanted to make a break with something else and found this place which we visited again a few days later because it was such a good experience to eat there and enjoy the fantastic food with the tequila desert and the good service. Thanks for the memorizable event, we and our 3 boys enjoyed that very much.

Loads of people had raved about how good El Barrio was and my expectations were really high. The restaurant still managed to exceed those expectations.
We were greeted enthusiastically and seated straight away by a lady who I guess was the owner.
I’m a massive fish tacos fan and had to order them. I’ve eaten a lot of fish tacos in my time and these were light years better than any I’ve had before. The batter is light and crispy and the fish is generous. The tacos are light and hold together well. The fish is topped by lightly pickled onion and radish and a clean, slightly spicy sauce.
There’s also a separate row of 4 other sauces which change the flavour of each bite; genius idea. They were all great but the Smokey one was special.
I ordered a coconut margarita to go with it, a new drink to me and it was lovely. Warning: don’t have too many if you’re driving!
Then we got the chocolate desserts which was unlike anything I’ve had before and rich and exotic.
Then the lady threw in an extra tequila/passion fruit drink in right at the end which was also a taste sensation.
While the prices aren’t cheap, they’re not especially expensive either and I’d had been happy paying more for that quality of food and service.
Next time I go to Koh Chang, it’s going to be hard to eat anywhere else.

As a stern critic and huge lover of Mexican food, I am not sure what I expected but it was not this....a fantastic crew of attentive and friendly staff made sure we had a wonderful evening and as for the food, wow! It was one of the best if not THE best in Thailand for Mexican. Even the children were silent as they woofed their food down with lots of ‘yums’ and ‘can I eat yours if you don’t finish it?!’ (No chance!) After some cocktails we finished with a flurry of passion fruit chipotle shots and were sad to leave! If you do not go there...you will regret it!

Olé Guacamolé !!!
Whenever you are on Ko Chang you MUST go by El Bario and say hello to Lorena. She will give you the run around with her fantastic menu, you will be presented with authentic mexican food and wonder where she gets all the ingredients om this island, at least I did. However, delicious and special makes poor compliments to her meals. We can't wait to go back. OLÉ

If you want to try the most authentic restaurant on the island this is it! The flavors are an explosion in your mouth and the ingrediens is high quality and they pay so much attention to details. Well established on the island for over 10 years nobody can compete with this experience. Staff is amazing and margaritas makes you really happy! We will be back!

A great restaurant with a good vibe and friendly, welcoming hosts/service staff. The food was very tasty. I visited this restaurant twice due to the food being so good. The peanut mazapan dessert was a stand out. The menu provided very good mocktails but did only provide 2 choices. It would have been nice to have a little more variety. The service staff were lovely and gave me an alcohol free shot which they serve customers, which was tasty and kind of them to provide. One of the best restaurants in Koh Chang for service, quality of food and atmosphere. The menu is on the meaty side but it does have a couple of options available for people who don’t eat meat.

OK so it's no exaggeration here, this was the best burrito I've had in my life and I've had plenty.. Not for the burrito itself which was nice but for the sauces and extras you got woth it. There was 3 dofferent homemade sauces all as tasty as the last plus a small bowl of refried beans and pico de gallo which were both very nice. A good portion size as well, the only regret is that I didn't get a picture before smashing the lot..

Delicious Mexican food with an inspiring menu. I love Mexican food but even when traveling in Mexico it can be hard to find vegetarian dishes that are creative and have the little extra. I was surprised to find it in Thailand. 😃

We didn't know much about mexican food but this is awesome...guacamole and beef fajitas were delicious we also very like the dish with the shrimps. Favourite cocktail is green passion. Go there if you come to koh chang.

There’s a nice buzz about El Barrio, fun service and good atmosphere. Our food, though different from the usual cuisine and offered veggie options, was not particularly memorable. The margaritas, however, were great. Booking essential.

Travelling alone I eat there few times already. I like this place because the food is amazing my favourite is the cheese fondue with shrimps I became addict. I enjoy to sit at the bar and have a nice drink and a chat with the owners.
