When we walked in you walk straight in the bar; the lobby is old looking and musty feel about it! I've had chicken habachi in other places and this has to be the most tasteless.

We were there on a Saturday to this place: Koto Japanese (not Kyoto as indicated here). We were seated at a grill table (with actual chairs) and our server was present immediately with soup. Another family was seated with us just as the cooking was to commence, but that did not cause problems. The portions were ample, and the cook... More

Just ate at Koto's guessing it's the same place. It's no good. Very old and dingy. You have to crawl into tables that have a raised floor to sit on. Very hard and uncomfortable. The food was bleh at best. The cook was very personable and kept a clean grill however, which is the only reason I gave it two... More

I really like teriyaki chicken and eat Japanese probably once a month or every other month on average. Of all the standard Japanese restaurants in the area, Kyoto is one of my favorites. It is convenient to where I live (I live on 221 and it is off of Old Forest Rd), the prices are about the same as everywhere... More

Sometimes you just get lucky. Three of us were staying nearby and thought we'd try this place only because it was close. A couple started a loud and heated argument at the front door as we arrived, but just as we turned on our heels to walk straight out a waitress came quickly and showed us to one of their... More

Food quality and quantiy very good but you pay good for it too. The cooks are very entertaining. Last time however ther was a long wait once we were seated. took forever to get drinks. We were there to celebrate a Friends birthday and one couple ended up leaving because they waited so long just to get a softdrink.

We were seated around a huge hotplate and were somewhat bemused, but then a young American man with a Japanese traditional dress presented himself, and began to entertain us with amazing skills, juggling sharp knives, and unbelievably eggs with stainless steel cutlery without breaking them. He fried eggs, steak and shrimps, garnishing them with Japanese condiments, and the result was... More

May 11, 2014 at approximately 12:15pm I, along with three other guests visited Kyoto on Wards Road in Lynchburg, Va. Unfortunately, we will never return. First off, when we asked our server if it was half off sushi (We had heard it was on Sundays) she shrugged and replied, "I think so." We had to insist that she go and... More

We visited this place for a passing through dinner. It was rated pretty high on Yelp. Big mistake trusting the trolls on Yelp. What should we expect when we parked in the parking lot? It looked like a typical Lynchburg dive. The restaurant is dark and creepy inside. When we were escorted to the hibachi grill, I asked for a... More
