We stumbled across this restaurant and what a surprise. We had scallops that were perfect. The slaw was very good also as well as other side dishes. It was very inexpensive at lunch. They have a terrific water view with seating on a deck. I would return. Four stars only as the whole place needs freshening up. Especially the carpet... More
Located just over a tall James River bridge South of scenic Route 5 in Hopewell, this was a fun find. Even though we visited on a cold blustery day, the warm wood dining room with sweeping river views made us feel at home. Only one other couple was there and perhaps one guy at the bar. I ordered flounder and... More
Great food, great service, wonderful staff all around. The view of the James River at sunset was amazing, the food was as good as the view.
We spend a short visit in Hopewell to get some needed rest before venturing to South Carolina. After settling in at The Best Western and starting to get hungry. After reviewing the list of restaurants in the area given to us by the hotel. Decisions finally made to head over to Dockside. The place was about 10 mins away, but... More
My husband and I had never been to Hopewell so we decided to make a trip there and try the Dockside Restaurant. I had the hamburger and he had the chicken salad sandwich. The food was average but the view was spectacular. Our server was very attentive and friendly. We would probably eat here again if in the area just... More
First let me say this is one of the few restaurants in the area...really has a monopoly on dinner . The view of the James River is interesting and in some directions beautiful, (not including the factories on the Hopewell waterfront). The waitress and hostess were very welcoming and the service was good. Some of our entrees were good some... More
My husband ordered the chicken Parmesan which consisted of fried and battered chicken fingers (I guess the same chicken fingers used for the other chicken finger menu items) coated in melted cheddar cheese and cheap Ragu tomato sauce (no mozzarella and Parmesan cheese that is expected and typical of this dish). When I ordered the fried oyster dinner and the... More
Menu sounded great but food was mediocre. We had house salads, poorest excuse for salads, better at fast food place. Homemade blue cheese dressing was good. Crab Cakes pretty small and uninteresting. Served with commercial tarter sauce, Presentation underwhelming. Side of french fries served in sauce dish, serving size small. Margarita good, commercial snickers pie very good,
Restaurant had decent seafood however very limited selection outside of that. When inquiring about other options like a burger was told we would need to move to the bar to order from that menu. There was only two other people in restaurant so thought this was a ridiculous request. So not sure if this was just a bad night but... More
