After an absence of four years, our travels led us back to downtown Harrisonburg and the food at Arepera Las Chamas, which is better than ever. The family that runs the place now offers "Carribbean" food which seems all right but I recommend that you focus on the hearty meat dishes that characterize so much of South American cuisine. Most... This is a great restaurant with truly excellent Latin American Cuisine. The restaurant has a laid back, casual feel, reminiscent of the types of diners that the locals in Latin American countries would choose to eat at. My wife and I read the reviews and are frequent visitors to Harrisonburg so we decided to check it out. It was also... More

My wife and I stopped in for dinner while strolling around town. It's a little hole in the wall place but comfortable inside and the food was fantastic. I had a chicken cachapa and my wife had a sandwich special served on plantain instead of a bread bun with yuca frita on the side. We had no idea what we... More

My husband and I stopped in for lunch and had never tried Caribbean food. It was so good. Not over powering with spice. Blended flavors. Really tasty. We will be back.

Visiting from out of town with my family when we found this place. We are Venezuelan so we are very picky with our Latin food. Las Chamas did not disappoint. The food was fresh, delicious, and authentic. Service was excellent!

Love the food here. The vegetarian wrap is out of this world, and the garlic sauce is the best! A great place for take out, or stay in to watch soccer on their big tv.

Doesn't look like anything special but don't be deceived by the furnishings; this food is spectacular. If you are on a budget, this is the place to go. If you haven't eaten Venezuelan food before, I highly recommend the $10 combo plate which is a great opportunity to try 5 different foods. Mix it up, try beef filling in one,... More

I'm Venezuelan and found this restaurant to be super delicious! I had the pabellon arepa, the pastelisto with ham and cheese and an empanada with plantains. Just perfect. The service by waitress was wonderful and the owner makes all of the food herself. It was also super affordable. I was very impressed with this spot and totally recommend it!

We ate here on a Saturday in late August for a "comida" (a late big lunch). Between the three of us we had 8 arepas and a cachapa mixta. My son also had a batido de mora (a sort of boysenberry shake) and my husband and I had passionfruit juice. The arepas are a traditional Venezuelan street food: thick corn... More

We were pleasantly surprised by this little restaurant. The decor isn't five star, but the food is excellent. The empanadas are a must try.
